Well, is there any trope that fits the idea of a romantic partner who treats their partner badly but claims to still love them? Regardless of how the narrative frames it? This example is not fetishized or anything, but it's a key moment to showcase his relationship to his bethroted in contrast with the other one that is shown.

Removed from main page, as there is a cleanup effort on BastardBoyfriend underway and I am not sure what to do with this entry:
- Bastard Boyfriend: More like bastard husband, but yes, to no one's surprise he seems to have treated his betrothed as hired help at best and may have made her an accesory to the annhilation of the ancient human race at worst by using her to get his hands on Brilith's research, still, assuming he wasn't lying to her, he tells her that he loved her more than anything and will keep on loving her even after she's nothing but a spec of dust in the universe, which could have been endearing if a little disturbing in anyone but him and she looks accordingly unnerved by it.
