I still heavily contest the Adaptational Wimp entry on this page, because it's really splitting hairs, especially especially since Superman's power level in the comics is pretty damn all over the place. We should try and focus on the version of Superman the DCAU has portrayed; namely, a young and idealistic hero who finds creative uses for his powers beyond just punching bad guys.
When you try to compare this version of Superman against the huge amount of baggage associated with all of his different portrayals in comics, tv, and movies you end up with a rambling mess full of splitting-hairs.
For the record, the last time it came up.
Honestly, I'm inclined to agree since frankly, Superman's Power Level is all over the place in the comics and he would jump rope between Adaptational Wimp and Badass every episode depending on where we are in the comics.
He's still consistently depicted as "pretty much straight up the strongest" and finding any actual baseline in the comics is hilariously pointless.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Obviously, there is no definite portrayal of Superman's powers in the comic books, because comic books are less like single narrative stories and more like urban folk lore tales, with each tale telling a different perspective for a character. There could be several different comic books featuring the same character running on the shelves at the same time, but none of those comic books would tell that character’s story in the same way. That's why it's an exercise in futility to compare DCAU Superman's powers to his comic book counterpart.
Since there aren't any objections, I'm guessing this means the AW entry can get deleted.
I, the master of tropes, object to the AW entry being deleted. It is presented on Wikipedia that the Timmverse/DCAU Superman is weaker than his comic book counterparts. Also, it is presented on the tv tropes page of Superman: TAS that this Superman was nerfed and has a smaller power level than most. You must not delete it.
Just because his powers are nerfed compared to his comic book portrayal doesn't necessarily mean he is a wimp, since he still finds creative ways to save the day with his powers. By the 90s, Superman had stopped being so outlandishly powerful compared to the Silver Age, so the TV/comics comparisons would be redundant anyway.
I believe that the DCAU Wonder Woman should receive her own page. Does anyone else agree with me?
Was it really necessary to discuss here? You could bring up this argument in the DCAU character page.
Does anyone know about how to create folders for this page?
