Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

I think it's there to ensure people maintain consistency. I don't see it as that much of a big deal, but what do I know here.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods Of Incremental)It's a big note, yes, but if it can prevent tropers edit warring over these things it serves a good purpose. I'm not sure if it has happened with this page, but people easily get into edit wars about such things.
Also, it's a comment (it's been reformatted in the OP so that's not immediately obvious), so you only see it if you're editing the page or viewing the source code. So it doesn't interfere with how ordinary readers experience things.
EDITED: To answer the question in the thread title: to some people it's a deal big enough to edit war about.
Edited by GnomeTitanThere was a recent report about an edit war involving use of periods in initials. Though in that case it was primarily about how it was presented in-series vs what should be done here.
Edit: Corrected link
Edited by sgamer82In that case, it was made more complicated by the series’ not following the usual rules for how to write an acronym: IIRC, it used periods after the first two letters but not after the third letter. People who hadn’t noticed this ”corrected” the spelling to three periods, others changed it back, and an edit war ensued.
- This seems like a big note for such a small thing.
As the person who wrote that notice, sorry if the notice came off as bloated. I just intended the notice to be a mini-style guide to keep the use of acronyms consistent with how the games actually used them (which is, usually without the periods).
Edited by Albert3105I see nothing wrong with a style guide. A bit longer than usual, sure, but not exactly War and Peace.
@sgamer82: you have the wrong link.

At the top of Bloons Tower Defense, there is a big note about using periods for the initials.
