Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
You can remove the "while not accurate to gay men with AIDS" or at least change it to "while not accurate to all gay men with AIDS." It's fine to remove something that's technically incorrect, but you can't replace it with something that makes it sound like gay men spreading AIDS is more common than gay men simply living with it.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Again, I should have gone for a middle ground approach. I think it's actually fine how it is now. I just wanted to explain my logic instead of having people accuse me of claiming the stereotype is true(which I wasn't doing).
It was a mistake not to ask. My bad. If you guys say no, i'll be totally fine with that and you can revert thw edit.
While it is well known that Remus Lupin is an allegory for an individual with HIV facing discrimination, and that Fenrir Greyback is a predator, there is no statement from Rowling that he is based on stereotypes about HIV+ men.
Hence the change to Truth in Television and the addition of the comparison to real individuals who prey on others and attempt to infect them with HIV.
Before edit = no actual basis for the claim
After edit = Truth in Television(well, literature)
The state of the text prior to my edit was implying that real people like Fenrir Greyback don't exist. That is sadly not true. A TV Tropes page is definitely not the place to raise awareness of how awful pozzing is, but it is also not appropriate it to deny it exists.
FWIW, I'd be totally fine with how it is now. As long as it represents some kind of middle ground instead of implying that shitty people like Greyback don't have real life counterparts.
I should have gone for a middle ground approach from the start. My apologies. Bye.
