The specific example I was thinking of was this YouTube Poop
. At 3:32 it shows Popeye beaten by Sindbad the Sailor, but after it fades to black at 3:47, there's a screen saying "Nah, I won't end on a Downer Ending three times in a row." Then it continues on with the story, ending with Popeye winning.

I haven't played the particular game that Tango is from, but still... robo kitty. :D
The narrator of a story ends the story on a bad note. But then, either through the listener protesting, or the narrator admitting it's a bad ending, the narrator changes the bad ending and keeps going with the story so that it can reach a happy ending.
