Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help. It's not for everything, though. Edit reason: "Wouldn't it be better to just hide it until then instead of wiping it all?"

Answer: No, it would not. The whole point of the waiting period is to determine whether it is an example in the first place. Putting it in like this presupposes that the base will remain broken.

So yes, delete it.

Also, while it is a slightly different situation, I feel the following rule from How to Write an Example should still apply somewhat:

  • Do Not Use Comment Tags: While existing examples that violate a rule, such as Zero Context Examples, may be hidden with comment tags to encourage users to fix them, never add a new example that is commented out. Don't do it. Ever. At all. We mean it.

To add to the above, tropers who add commented-out examples have a bad tendency to add entries that run afoul of Speculative Troping.

Either way, I personally removed the entry with an endorsement from the Broken Base cleanup thread, because going around the waiting period is a big no-no. When you trope, you don't circumvent rules.
