Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
I'm pretty sure there's a clause or somesuch saying it's not an edit war if your edit explicitly undoes one that broke formatting/troping rules.
Aha:
Direct from Edit War itself:
"Exception: We generally recognize exceptions to the edit warring policy in cases where the editor is making an article compliant with wiki policies (such as removing a YMMV example from a primary article or correcting formatting). That said, if someone is edit warring already, continually reverting their work won't help even if it's correct. Get the moderators to deal with the situation instead of fighting a pointless battle."
Short version: It's not technically considered edit warring if you're correcting an entry to comply with wiki policy, but if an editor is repeatedly undoing formatting/indentation/grammar corrections, it's better to get the mods involved early than keep running on an infernal hamster wheel.
Edited by mlsmithcaNo need to revert it manually. Moderators can restore it more easily with system edit.
So a while back I commented out a bunch of ZCEs on Literature.Shadow Falls, then someone came by and uncommented just one without expanding it at all.
I sent them a notifier of course but what now? Do I have to leave it there because re-commenting would be an Edit War, or, ?
(It also claims to be "deconstructioned" but I remember it as a fairly straight example but also it's been ages since I actually read those books so maybe there's something I forget and this is why we don't allow ZCEs)
e: Much later I thought to check and it turns out they're the one who added the example in the first place. So then it's already an edit war.
