Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.

Bumping.
Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with keeping the -kinesis names.
Which elements did you cut?
Let's see... [checks edit history] I cut the "elements" of Animals, Machines, Crystal, Soul, Magic, Acid, Lava, Sound, Radiation, Smoke, Ash, Explosions, Mud, Sand, Hellfire, and Illusion.
Soul, Lava, Mud, and Sand were restored rather promptly after my cut by Eddy1215. While I'm not sold on their inclusion, this is a wiki and the entries are not worth fighting over. But putting everything back brings things back to about 40 entries, and listing all of them as "common" elements feels absurd to me.
Edited by DragonRangerI can see Soul, Lava, Mud and Sand as elements. The first has some connection to Element No. 5. Lava has connection with fire and earth and mud with water and Earth. And sand is another part of earth.
Edited by WhirlRXThat's quite the list. The ones I can see as their own elements are: Lightning/Electricity/Thunder Ice/Snow Light Good/Holy Darkness/Shadow Nature/Wood/Plants/Forest Life Death Heart/Love Metal Soul Energy/Magic Poison Sound Mind/Psychic Void
Occasionally Time, Space and Gravity too.
The rest seem either a part of one of the above elements, or a result of combining the above elements. For me personally the following are not their own elements (most of the time, anyway): Weather/Storm – usually storms are considered a part of Air/Wind element, or a result of combining Water and Air (and Thunder/Lightning if it is its own element in the setting) Animals Technology/Machines Crystal Lava Sun Moon Star Radiation Magnetism Smoke/Gas/Mist Explosion Mud Sand Hellfire Colored Fire Illusion
Of course, different settings have different rules, so anything can be used as an element. But if we were to list absolutely everything, the list will be huge, if not endless. We should limit it to the most common elements.
Was this edit originally discussed anywhere? That's a pretty big edit to make with no consensus.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness@WarJay: No, I didn't discuss it anywhere; it was a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing.
We have a Trope Repair Shop, don't we. I guess the best next step is to open a thread there?
About a month and a half ago (May 9), I did some clearing out of the Elemental Powers intro - specifically, I felt the list of "common" elements was too large and many were not all that common, so I cut a number of them. Each entry also had a sentence saying "This power is called [x]kinesis." that I cut as well, since I don't think anyone cares about the "kinesis" names.
I just went back and found that Weaselephant put everything back on May 31, with no edit reason. I want to re-cut it, but I know that's an edit war. I don't know if this is worth a tap on the shoulder or not, but I'd at least like to get some more input on which elements are worth keeping or cutting from the list.
