If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.
Character is about to do something great or has finally gotten something great that is rare and irreplaceable, only to accidentally destroy it when something is revealed. Its importance is quickly overshadowed by this new development. Sometimes used as an excuse to make the character mad at whoever is responsible for this new development for the rest of the episode. Other times, the character isn't mad because they're too overwhelmed with shock with this new development, showing that they consider this to be more important than the rare item they had.
Usually goes something like a character has discovered the cure for cancer, but another character barges in with an emergency and the vial containing the cure gets shattered.
Examples:
Happens at least two times in DuckTales (2017). I forgot the first instance, but the second instance is in "Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!", where Scrooge is talking about how he has this rare magic quill that can find any treasure, but he drops it on the floor and it shatters when he sees Della at the door.
Happens a couple of times in SpongeBob SquarePants:
