Bob uses an example during an argument. Alice then points out that Bob's example is either irrelevant to his point or outright contradicts it (although it doesn't necessarily prove Bob's entire argument to be wrong). Bob usually concedes the point, especially if it involves a Take That!.
For instance:
- In Sherlock Holmes, Watson mocks a newspaper story for being a Cliché Storm, claiming he can tell the story without even reading it: a drunken husband beats his wife and it ends in a divorce. Holmes points out he chose the worst possible example (because it's a case he was involved in): the husband didn't drink, but he did throw his false teeth at his wife at every meal.
- In Foxtrot, Paige complains that everything she enters in the search engine gets porn instead, such as White House photos. Peter argues that some of those are probably actual White House photos. Paige concedes the point.
- In Discworld, Lord Rust cites multiple battles as examples of Ankh-Morpork military valor. His aide has to point out to him that several were defeats and one was a fairy tale, to which Rust responds with his usual Selective Obliviousness.
