Wouldn't some of that be related to Heel Realization and Sheathe Your Sword? The latter based on the second example, the former on the first. If the trope you're looking for is "disarming yourself to make yourself more vulnerable" then it should be the latter, but if it's "dropping the weapon in a moment of clarity" it's closer to the former.

A variation of Dramatic Drop?

A person drops their weapon, either to show a Heel-Face turn has occurred, or because they’ve lost their will to fight, or something along those lines. Sometimes accompanied by a dramatic closeup of the weapon, silence that is only interrupted by a loud clanging sound and sometimes by the person in question dropping to their knees.
Two examples I can think of are:
It’s different from „Put down your gun and step away“, because the person does it out of their own will, not because someone else wants them to do it.
