Could be, but that troper has a long edit history so I am not going to ban them รก la spammer. Perhaps remove the example to the discussion page?

Indeed, but the problem isn't that it's gushing. It's gushing that sound like advertisement. The entry won't bother me if it has TV Tropes article instead of the external link, or if the link isn't for merchandise selling. Imagine someone put an ad for a restaurant in that page, the result might read like gushing too.

Perhaps remove the example to the discussion page?
