Many of those improvements begin with suggestions posted right here, on the Community Wishlist. Is there a feature you really want on TVTropes? Post it.
Is there something we could be doing better? We want to know. Do you think we look fat in these pants? We were totally afraid of that. See a bug? Report it.
Important things to know:
- We're all about that content-creation life! The top contenders for our attention are ideas that'll create more content, like the video uploading feature, or speed up launching new pages. On the flip side, design or layout tweaks won't be our top priority.
- Help us dig through the goldmine of old wishlist items! If you have an old request gathering dust or spot one you're totally on board with, give it a bump and a like. There's a treasure trove of 6+ years' worth of ideas just waiting to be rediscovered. Items without enough love may not make the cut and will be closed.
- Was your wishlist item locked up without an explanation? It was most likely disapproved or just too big of a task versus the benefit it would ultimately have. Time is precious, and we want to focus on updates with the biggest bang for the buck. Don't be discouraged though! We appreciate every idea and we're always listening.
There are no filters for anime or manga, which makes a large swatch of work pages inaccessible. Also, several workspaces are plural when they shouldn't be, such as video games and synopses. Oddly enough, the filter for comic books is plural yet it still works.
The reason the languages appear inactive is because the list clears itself after a few days. They're not inactive, they're just less active than other categories. Removing them would hurt the translation projects even more than the aforementioned auto-clear.
^ Fair point about languages. I still think the other things I mentioned don't really deserve filters, though.
Along with Anime and Manga, there are no filters for Creator, Music, Web Original, Web Video or Webcomic. There's one for Games, but no Games namespace; that could be replaced with Tabletop Games and LARP.
Going over the list now. I’ll eventually update the database namespace table and pull from that, but in the meantime I’ll make some quick updates. So far I’ve got:
Remove: titlebin, wallbanger, worldbuiling, synopsis, TRS, Image pickin, game, video games
Add: Anime, Manga, Creator, Music, Web Original, Web Video, Webcomic, YMMV,
Anything else to add or remove?

Add "VideoGame" and "TabletopGame"?
Might as well add Franchise and the recent (but rapidly growing) Derivative Works/ namespace too.

Looking at fixing this. I could just add/remove the changes requested in this thread but there is a table in the database called "Namespaces" and i could also easily put them all in the dropdown but its huge so i didn't know if it should be cut down in some way:
If excluding "trope", "ymmv" and "series" types for being too specific, that's 89 common namespaces to pull from, so it's probably fine for a dropdown list as we have longer dropdowns. The same list may possibly be refused in other features where namespaces are involved, so it's a good reference.
I notice "moments" and "subpage" are nearly duplicates. How that happened? If either is deleted (after investigation and possibly cleaning), that's also 6 less namespaces.

I know it's a minor issue, but it has been bugging me for a while.
And why is there no YMMV filter? Certain work types (e.g. Visual Novels) are also missing filters.
Edit: The Discontinuity filter also seems unnecessary.
