Thanks Synchronicity, that's spot on. Musical Spoiler even mention's it as part of the definition:
- If the fight music is still playing, you haven't eliminated a threat entirely yet.
I hadn't thought of it in terms of "music means there are still enemies" rather than "the music stops when there are no enemies left", but thinking about it in those terms, it makes perfect sense to include it under this trope.
There is an Anti-Frustration Features in some games where it gives you some indication when the last enemy in a particular fight has been defeated. Often the combat music will fade back out to tell you that it's safe to proceed. There is an example on Anti-Frustration Features for The Last Of Us where it talks about the main character saying out loud "That's the last of them" It can also be visual, such as the character lowering or holstering their gun when the fight is over. I thought of it mainly as a music trope, but can't find anything on it specifically, or even a broader trope with a lot of examples. Do we have this one, or is it common enough to be more People Sit On Chairs?
