I'm reading the Swedish translation of the French classic Gargantua and Pantagruel right now, and in one chapter there are a couple of poems recited by the character. They consist solely of toilet humor that's so juvenile that the translator removed them from the text of the novel, since there is no pleasure to be found in them for the modern reader (or so he says). But he does include the removed part in the endnotes, for the sake of completeness.
What tropes applies to this?
