"Complicated, incomprehensible plot" is Kudzu Plot; otherwise, try other plotting and characterization tropes in Bad Writing Index (not necessarily YMMV, but don't let fan opinion bleed out so much in the non-YMMV entries).

The Chris Carter Effect is the YMMV for when Kudzu Plot crosses over from Lost-type "it's insanely complicated but it really does make sense if you take detailed notes, rewatch certain episodes a few times, and check out the wiki for analysis of each episode" into "Okay, the notes do nothing." Again, mind the difference between Complaining and objectively noting things which bother some viewers.
