I did a search for "Norbury", and the most relevant article that came up was My Greatest Failure. There doesn't seem to be an article specifically about asking a friend to remind one of it, though.
One I've seen in Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot (though the second is likely a Shout-Out to the frist): A character recounts one of his "failures" (in Holmes' case, his theory was completely wrong, in Poirot's he didn't catch the murderer of an Asshole Victim until the confession when the clues were sitting in front of him).
The character will then tell his friend that if ever it seems he's getting too prideful, just whisper a word associated with the case to remind him that he too is fallible.
