Sure. When the staff see what's going on he get's Google bounced. Problem solved. I'll head over there now and file a report, and warn that's what nuclearneo577 is staring down the barrel of.

Google bounces are only used to major vandals,he's likely to get an edit ban.

tsstevens, you REALLY need to stop assuming what's going to happen. I already told you what Ultimatum said (only used on major vandals). I doubt that this is nearly that high on the list. Hell, he might not even get an edit ban, just a warning. Only the admins know what the admins will do.

Can I know what is wrong with doing that? Its a redirect to YMMV now (why was it not a while ago?) so it does not matter.

Eddie made it a redirect. While you may think that sort of edit is funny, it's a stupid kind of funny, not a clever one. In fact, it's quite probable that Eddie did what he did in response to your little Edit War. So, Nice Job Breaking It, Hero.

Alright, what's your problem? I try and assure that the issues that are brought up here will be dealt with.

Well, whenever anything happens, the first thing you do is start on about "they're going to get bounced, they're going to get bounced," when pretty much none of these things have been bounce-worthy, and several of them were actually quite minor.

Perhaps saying a Google bounce is hard line, but that seemed to be the direction the site was heading. Alright, I'll continue to assure people who come here with problems that they will be dealt with, I'll make no apologies for that, I'll just refrain from explaining what I expect will happen.

There's no problem with "The admins can help you/will deal with it", but when you start dictating what they'll do, that's when there is a problem. The site heads wherever the admins decide to lead it to.

Perhaps tomorrow they'll ban everyone who's account starts with the letters "Th"! =p

tsstevens, the best idea would be for you to stop making statements about what's going to happen in any case, since last time I checked you weren't a mod or an admin.

No I'm not, but going by past actions by the site staff I call it as I see it. As I said I won't be dictating what the likely outcome will be, but I won't stop helping people with their problems. You won't stop me from doing that and I think it would be a sad day indeed if helping people is somehow considered against TV Tropes policy.

If you don't mind my asking, what exactly made you think he'd get bounced for this? I've never seen a bounce happen over an editing thing that wasn't obvious, repetetive vandalism after warnings. And usually even then, not until after ban evasion.

It seemed like the site has been inching towards harsher and more serious handling of problems. I remember a discussion over The Bible that resulted in multiple Google bans, even though the content wasn't particularly harsh. Ditto for editing Michael Cole, apparently moving YMMV tropes back on the main page because someone chooses to delete them rather than move them is ban worthy. Thus I figured edit warring would be a fairly serious offense in comparison.

Wanting to be helpful is fine. Thing is that your estimations often seem to be rather off the mark, so you're not actually being that helpful here. Bad advice can be worse than no advice.

And that seems to be the issue here. I won't be saying what the likely outcome will be, I've explained that several times and will happily translate it for those who do not understand English. I was simply going by my experience.

To continually harang someone over a matter that had been resolved is itself kind of rude. This topic of discussion is over.
