I think I should be more specific and say what the situation is that caused me to search for such a trope.
In a Pokemon Fan Fic, there is a compass that is supposed to point to a person with large amounts of Aura. Is there a trope that can describe the compass?
Someone asked something similar a little while ago, and the best answer (that I saw, anyway) was The Little Detecto for that. Another example is something like Captain Jack's compass that points to what the holder wants most.
Is there a trope for The Chooser of the One where the Chooser is actually an object and not a character as per the trope's requirements?
