Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.

Re-upping this because I didn’t realize it was private. Oops. Can I zap this rec?
If you have any proof the author added the post, then that's a good reason to remove it. But as far as I know, we don't ban AI-generated works entirely from being recommended. If it's able to be published as a fic on its host site with the disclaimer it's AI, I assume it's allowed to be recommended here, and those who disapprove can just not read it.
Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. There's no rule forbidding AI-generated work on Fanfic Recommendations. The fic's author goes by Jaden Reed and the recommendation is signed by Jay Ridders, so unless there's evidence that these are the same people we must assume the fic is not a self-rec.
e: The fact that the recommendation being added to TV Tropes has a timestamp of less than an hour after the fic was uploaded to DeviantArtnote is a bit suspicious, admittedly, but not proof.
Edited by wingedcatgirl Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Jaden Reed and Jay Ridders are very similar names too.
There's a bit of circumstantial evidence, but nothing solid it seems.
Kick the world, break your foot.you could ask them. a lot of the time people will just honestly admit that they recommended/YMMV'd their own fic, presumably bc they didnt realize there was a rule against it
Checking the Deviant Art page who posted the fic, it links to a (defunct) Linktree page that's also linked on a youtube channel named Jay Ridders. I'm now certain they're the same person, but added confirmation from them directly wouldn't hurt.
There is an AI-generated fanfiction listed in the Doctor Who section whose entire recommendation appears to be "This was AI-Generated and it's cool". I wouldn't be surprised if the author themselves put it. Again, the merits of the story are never actually discussed. The entire thing reeks of Dancing Bear. The comments section reads as follows:
"Comments: Of course, some people have a grudge against AI for taking most of their jobs (writing, drawing, reading, etc.), but this AI-experiment with Chat GPT to create a Doctor Who fanfic is quite interesting. Love it or hate it, this is something I think is worth checking out if you're curious about the capabilities of artificial intelligence in fanfiction."
Can I remove this "recommendation"?
