"between the release of a work and the change", so I take from work's release. It is odd.

I don't really understand the reasoning behind the Ragnarok example being cut. If it's been more than five years since that film revamped Thor's personality from that film, why doesn't it count?

^Because The Scrappy and Base-Breaking Character requires six months since they become contentious, so by that logic shouldn't CPE be since the moment perception starts to change? Or is there a reason/argument for just five years since release instead?

I'll take this to "No Recent Examples Please" cleanup, though I don't believe they answered last I asked about this.

No Recent Examples, Please! states that The Scrappy and Base-Breaking Character can be just added after six months as well. It doesn't necessarily limit it to when the character's popularity starts to change. So I feel CPE can apply for similar rules as well.

In the case of Thor, his personality change was liked when Ragnarok first came out, but began to change from that point onward, up until Love and Thunder culminated everyone's dissatisfaction with him. So I'd think the entry is still valid.

Thing is, The Scrappy and BBC don't rely on opinions changing. So they're not that similar.

^^No Recent Examples, Please! states BBC and Scrappy require "6 months after the character is introduced or becomes controversial, whichever comes later". That's why I thought the 5 year wait might be since the perception starts to change.

^Good point. BBC and Scrappy wait is about preventing knee-jerk witch isn't the case here. Taking to "No Recent Examples Please" cleanup.
