I am aware that Epileptic Trees' status on the wiki is unclear, but I don't really know that "this work is a Spin-Offspring" is an "recurring insane" theory. It is probably safer to just move to WMG.Pikmin 4.

It's a popular theory on the Pikmin fandom, so I think it's valid. WMG is mostly for people posting their personal theories.

It's still misuse. As stated in the trope page, Epileptic Trees is for wild, off-the-wall theories. The entry is just pre-release speculation about what may or may not be within the work.

I agree with Tanta Monty, it's misuse and belongs in WMG.

Where do we draw the line between plausible theories and "wild" theories tho? Also, is Epileptic Trees for unreleased medias allowed in general or not?

I'd say that a "wild, off-the-wall theory" in this context is one that makes you think "Wow, what have they been smoking?" when you see it. And the opposite here is not "plausible" but "reasonable" - even an implausible theory may not be wild enough for Epileptic Trees.

Speculating that work is a Spin-Offspring may be implausible, but it's hardly wild and off-the wall, so putting it under Epileptic Trees is clear shoehorning.

I removed it, but I'd still want to know what's the stance on Epileptic Trees examples for unreleased works.

It mostly boils down to common sense, really. "Two characters share similar physical traits, therefore they may be related" is a simple case of existing evidence leading to a reasonable conclusion.

I believe it's possible for Epileptic Trees to apply to unreleased works, but the theory in question must be absurd by itself or based on an irrational premise.

This confusion regarding Epileptic Trees is why I added it to Tropes Needing TRS a while back.

In regards to this cut entry, I'd say it's...not really all that crazy, nor have I seen a lot of Pikmin fans talk about the possibility.

Trust no one.

Epileptic Trees is one of those things nobody truly understands, and as of now IDK if there's any case for or against the idea of pre-release works being added.

Anyway, old, relevant trope talk thread is relevant.
