Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
It'd help if you linked the page in question so we could see what you're talking about.
It's the trivia page for AOT No Requiem, the edit history for it is here. With that said, I do think the examples tip into just outright bashing the creators even with the citations, and the Trump mention in particular seems shoehorned. I don't like him either, but making that comparison does seem extreme to me.
Edit: I checked OP's edit history, they also added this bias against the webcomic in the FanficRecs.Attack On Titan page here, which has since been removed.
Edited by harryhenryOkay, at this point you two are edit warring. I also need to point out that the indentation on that example... makes no sense? Why do you have subbulleted tropes under it? Please see Example Indentation in Trope Lists.
Edited by WarJay77 Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIsn't bias more like inserting strong opinions about something without a valid reason for it? I never said the webcomic nor its authors better than or worse than such and such; I attempted to keep things as neutral as possible without insulting them, and the webcomic already has a well-known problematic history of its own. I do kinda see why my Trump reference might be out of place, though.
But if my edit might be better suited for YMMV anyway, I'll see what I can do to adjust or reword parts— thanks guys for the input.
I find things^ No, a bias can still be there even if you see it as valid and factual. The entries describe the team and their fanbase as “mass spreading their toxicity, all of which the team has done nothing to control and take accountability for”, and in addition to the Trump comparison described Somnu as someone who “attempted to brainwash innocent fans”. I would be hard pressed to call those neutral, non-insulting descriptions.
To follow on from what War Jay 77 said: Strongly Worded Letter, the main trope those entries were listed under, is also not trivia, and again seems like a biased choice since its definition is “a brave or heroic action that falls ludicrously short”. That would be a weird trope to pick for describing real-life actions if you weren’t complaining.
Edited by harryhenry"Overlays and opacity adjustments prove their dishonesty" is a phrasing that's definitely over the line. That's not a phrasing for presenting the facts. That's a phrasing that's basically saying See? See how awful these people are?
Edited by MichaelKatsuroAgree with War Jay. Also, it helps to keep in mind that there are some subjects (I'm NOT getting into specifics) that some people feel SO strongly about that anything someone writes that does not align EXACTLY with their opinions is going to prompt a reaction. They don't like what you wrote, they respond, you respond, back and forth, and you've got an edit war that no one really wanted. TV Tropes isn't a soapbox for personal opinions but with a large community and multiple subjects sometimes it happens.
So I'm in a bit of a pickle.
I was adding trivia entries to the Trivia section of a webcomic's article, with linked proof that the details I put really did happen, including the background behind it, and sourcing where they came from. However, a user reverted my edits, accusing me of being disingenuous and biased. I do also want to mention that one of my trivia entries with proof merely said one of the webcomic's author's tweet sounded like Trump— but the same user accused me of comparing the author themselves to Trump, and reasoned "the keyword here is 'LIKE'."
I don't want to get into an edit war with this person, I just wanted to neutrally show how the webcomic itself and its authors have been problematic with evidence. I'm not sure what to do, I never acted opinionated about it in any way.
