When she's enraged make sure you have a clear way to escape the room you're in. Push comes to shove you can always use a Farcaster, too.

You can also force her to use her supernova with a flash bomb and make yourself gone while she's torching everything.

Astea Jerky helps a lot too since it can help mitigate the stupid amounts of temp damage you take.

honestly lunastra is so heavily neutered by insect glaive air-time that my brain short-circuits when i try and think of other weapons that would be good against her.

Hey, did anyone ever ask a mod to change the thread name? We've had the "it's outdated and something like 'General Monster Hunter Discussion' would probably be better," conversation a few times, and I think a few people said they'd ask a mod, but either they never did or we never got a response.

Anyone wanna do that? I would, but I'm not sure how, and I don't want to do it without mentioning it first.

I'm downloading the MHGU demo for the Switch now, what should I brace myself for in terms of regression from World?

The Anti Frustration Feature page for World lists all the quality-of-life changes it introduced, so looking at that should give you a sense of what to expect (not to expect?).

Here’s a few big ones off the top of my head:

  • You can’t eat meals or access your item box when you’re out on a quest. Remember where to gather honey or bring some at the start, because once you get a ways into the game, 10 mega potions isn’t enough. For that matter, you need blue mushrooms and herbs to make potions, not just herbs.
  • You can’t move while using items (although potions heal you all at once, since them working gradually was a tradeoff for being able to move).
  • You need bug nets and pickaxes to gather bugs and minerals respectively, and those are consumable items that sometimes break. Higher quality ones break less often.
  • Whetstones are consumables. Do not forget to bring them.
  • You have to make separate armor sets to use bowguns and bows. That’d be the second set of the two listed at the forge menu. First set is for everything else.
  • To see a monster on the map, you’ll need to hit it with a paintball. They last about ten minutes. Bring several.
  • There’s no slinger. Things like flash bombs and dung bombs are all separate items and need to be crafted.
  • Only one large monster per quest unless the environment is listed as “unstable.”

...It’s gonna take some adjustment. Hopefully you can still enjoy it, though.

The map is also subsectioned and each part has to load whenever you move into it.

It's a good time, though. There's the hunting styles that a lot of people like enough that you might miss some of them going back to World.

Valor in particular makes pretty much every weapon play a little bit like the Dual Blades in that you need to build up a meter and than take advantage of a super mode where everything you do is better, and each weapon has at least one or two finishers they can pull off tied to the styles.

There’s also a ton of content. Almost every noteworthy monster from the series is in it, for one thing.

So, on the list of things that annoy me, just from the experience of the demo:

1) Loading Zones 2) Barioth.

I'm enjoying prowlers a decent amount, and having a tiny bit of trouble getting used to the differences in moveset for the weapons I'm familiar with from World, but that's kind of what I expected. Monsters also seem to be a bit more finicky about getting hit, but I suspect that's just me not being familiar with their movements.

Speaking of, I hate that they took out double notes from the Hunting Horn. It discouraged Corner Horners and rewarded being accurate and actively pursuing monsters with faster, better buffs.

They're in Ultimate but are gone from World.

Okay wow, I beat Barioth with 4 seconds to spare with Valor Switch Axe.

He was just so jumpy, it was impossible to pin him down to get good damage in on him.

Everyone gave you good advice already, so the only thing I'll tell you is: be ready for Valstrax. It's very strong and has some unnerving combos.

Part of me wants to try it because I'm kind of plateauing in world, just not feeling much drive to do much else yet beside wait for iceborne. On the other hand, I'm just not feeling those rooms the size of postage stamps with loading zones between them in 2019.

I've hollered mods a couple times in the past. They never do anything. One of y'all feel free to try, maybe they just don't like listening to me.

Anywho World is technically a better game than Generations/Generations Ultimate, but there are a lot of old time mechanics that I miss from traditional monster hunter. World babies players in a lot of respects LMAO... buuuut Generations does the same things since half the arts promote play that isn't safe or good and is kiiiinda antithetical to monster hunter's design.

[up] How do you call a mod, though? Maybe we'll have a better chance if more than one of us does it.

4u continues to be as good as i remember it. man, i wish they'd just gone with an analog stick instead of a c-stick for hte n3ds. the c-stick is just too stiff to rely on during battle.

It’s hard to play generations because of all the quality of life upgrades in world. Like I don’t see anything world does as babying, I see it as having respect for my time since I’m already wasting my time grinding in hunts themselves.

So you say we mention one of the mods in our posts and that should work?

Well, works better than my proposition to misbehave just to call attention. I dig it. [lol] Gotta look for their names.

So I’ve made a work and Funny Moments page for Pro and Noob. If anybody’s seen these vids, would you care to bring some wiki magic?

I ask here because, while there are a few other Proob miniseries, it’s mainly about Monster Hunter.

At least it doesn't troll you like the transition from High-Rank to G-Rank. [lol]
