I split up my team. It's the only way to get all the goodies and exp. But every group has their own healer, and every character carries vulnaries. I think the real difference is that you plan for 100% success rates, while I take measured gambles and plan around the occasional failure. You carefully poke at enemies until they fall over and you take zero damage, while I barrel through and heal up on the way to the next fight.
This probably explains the difference in our strats. I don't have four healers, just Marianne (well, Lysithea has Heal, too, but most of the time, I'd rather have her attack than heal, so that maybe sees use en route if the battlefield is overly large). Everyone has Vulneraries (sometimes multiple on the dedicated tanks), but I'd also rather attack with most characters than half to clean up the damage they took from attacking into unnecessary counterattacks.

That's fair enough, but weapon ranks come real quick until after B. Leonie will be getting C+ only two, maybe three chapters after Ignatz, and still long before enemies show up that warrant the use of Break Shot. Most of the time, hitting non-monstrous enemies twice deals more damage before they die.
Yeah, as long as she keeps studying bows, anyway. I know that's where 75% of my WEXP for it for her came from for me. I can't remember when, but she swapped to wanting lance/riding at some point (which I totally agreed with because it's hard to go wrong with Cavaliers and she was getting near level 10).

My Lysithia got 49 damage on the DK on the first encounter, and only got stronger since. Now that she has Fiendish Blow, I doubt I'll find many non-monstrous enemies she can't one-hit-kill.
I'm gonna have to check growth rates after I'm done, because this makes me think maybe mine was under average after all (which is kind of ludicrous, since her Mag is still pretty high).

You should use Leonie's or Byleth's turn if they don't have anything else worthwhile to do. I always start my turn by looking at which of my units isn't in position to contribute directly to the fight (often one of the 4 MV mages) and see what else I could do with them. In case of the mages, they have Draw Back. I can walk them in front of another unit, and draw them back. Now the Mage walked 5 squares instead of 4, and the other character can move one square further as well. It's a pretty good habit. Other good uses are ferrying items or equipping different weapons on units that have already moved
Yeah, and they pretty much always use their turns. They're my front line, so they're almost always moving into baiting range as their action (especially because they're 6-7-Move units now). This makes it really awkward to go for any kind of repositioning skills with them. I guess this should matter less as everyone else catches up and masters their beginner class, though.

I got Marianne, Lysithia, Lorenz and Flayn, with Byleth joining their ranks soon enough. I like making sure that all spellcasters have at least D rank in faith so they can get Heal. There's generally not enough enemies within their MV 4 to fight any given turn, so healing papercuts is a good way for them to gain some exp while catching up with the rest of the troop.

Oh, yeah, cavaliers are awesome, but Leonie is a natural Bow Knight, so her most important skills are Bows and Riding. I have her study Bows and Lances at first until she promotes to Archer, at which point she switches to Lances and Riding. Once she masters Archer she becomes a Cavalier equipped with a bow, and continues to study Lances and Riding until Lances hit B, and then switches to Bows and Riding. Eventually she'll promote to Paladin (mastery of Cavalier optional. Desperation doesn't do much for her), and then Bow Knight.

Well, it doesn't have to be Byleth or Leonie. In fact, mounted units can't use repositioning at all. I'm just saying that it's okay for your units to do something other than attacking on your turn, as long as they do something useful.

Re: "canon" timelines; I don't think any one timeline is canon, but in the cases where people prefer to unify all the routes via Peggy Sue magic, or someone like me who wants something to base any potential fic or writing on, it's easier to take your preferred route's story and fiddle with it, I find.

It's been fun.

Heh.

So nobody wants to save Edelgard huh?

Then again, considering her opening move was ''kill both Dmitri and Claude before they even had a reason to fight me, I can get that.

Just go Fate/Hollow Ataraxia with it.

Every route happens except no one is dead besides the main villain (in this case, Those Who Slither) and completely ignore all contradictions that would cause.

Change My View: Ingrid's "My duty is your death" is the Three Houses equivalent to "Pick a god and pray," and no other quote comes close.

@Vatek: Yeah, basically! I mean, I think of it more as "golden ending where people actually share information". I think the biggest obstacle to that is Rhea possibly snapping if Byleth tries to remain herself; I don't know how that plays out in the other paths, but presumably it comes up at some point? Since Byleth isn't turning into Sothis no matter what, Rhea must have to deal with that in the other routes too.

It's been fun.

[up]No, actually. As long as her mother's reincarnation doesn't actively try to murder her with her mother's corpse, Rhea is cool with it.

She accepts it pretty easily. Viewing them as Progenitor God 1.1, Mother of All Life and Arbiter of Every Soul as the New Archbishop/Ruler of Fodlan.

Even if Byleth is male. Nay especially when Byleths male.

A crit quote that kind of surprised me was Marianne's "My blood compels me!" Change the tone in which it's spoken, and you have an Owain quote.

@Lord Votek: Of the post time skip maps, I think Crimson Flower has least repeats with other routes because the maps that are same have different enemy layouts and starting positions

The repeat maps didn't bother me much in Fates, but they're getting on my nerves much more in TH. Must be because of the frequency and how little they re-contextualize the battle even with different starting positions.

I'm about to buy the game soon. Some questions:

Do adjutants take up a deployment slot or not? I've seen some contradictory information on this.

How common are Master Seals? How many are you expected to get in a campaign?

Is there a way to view the full list of all possible supports somewhere?

I know that you can recruit Lysithea in phase 2 of Crimson Flower, are there similar recruits on the other routes?

re: Canon routes, canon is a lie made up by publishers for money.

re: 5th route, the clear choice is a route siding with Those Who Slither. They're the biggest faction you can't side with, after all.

Can you repeat that? I can't hear you over the rousing sounds of l'Internationale.

[up]Wiki should have the supports, though I don't think there's a way to look them up other than checking every individual character.

1: they have their own separate deployment slots that increase as your teacher rank increases

2: once you are able to rank a character to master rank, the town shop will sell 3 or 5 per week i forgot which, but only if you visit it in explore mode

3: prolly on serenesforest

4: idk
