[up][up][up] Who was Astrid with again? Gatrie?

Still prefer Ike/Elincia to this day by-the-by...

Corrin x Haitaka is the only pairing that matters, and alas it was never a reality.

Oh right. The reminder of Roy and Cecilia totally boosts my belief that Byleth being able to romance Edelgard to...90%.

[up]x3 I was an Ike x Elincia shipper back when Path of Radiance first came out as well. Imagine my surprise when it turned out Sothe was the one that had Ike's children though.

Still not really an Elincia x Geoffrey fan.

[up][up][up] Unequal Pairing is probably the rule of Fire Emblem, rather than the exception.

Unless incest is involved.

I think one reason I didn't like most of the official pairings in Tellius is because I'm not really a fan of pairings where the girl is younger than the guy, which I think almost every single Tellius pairing is (except for Sothe x Micaiah and Sothe x Ike).

Another impossible pairing I liked was Mist x Rolf, but alas, that was not to be.

That's what hapoens when you fall for translations shipping them. End up shipping something that wasn't there.

Besides Half-Dragon or cat penis are clearly the superior options.tongue

Isn't that one of the three problems with Radiant Dawn though? Poor support options that generally only allow for unpopular ships (e.g. Elincia X Geoffery), the excessive starting difficulty caused by the Dawn Brigade's weak characters, and Micaiah and Ike fighting for screentime?

Am I supposed to be equipping Corrin with weapons outside the Yato and Dragonstone?

[up][up][up] For Part 1, only if one tries to unnecessarily raise the growth units. Sothe, Nolan, Zihark and Tauroneo (plus the drop-in tier-3 units) can easily carry the entirety of that and the DB's section of Part 3.

[up] Kodachi, if you're expecting ranged combat. Otherwise, maybe effective weaponry, but most of Birthright's enemies are so squishy that you probably don't need that.

Problem of radiant dawn to me was more the fact he tries to do too much for his own good and has a hard time balancing gameplay and story because of hit.

I have an extremely bad memory of part 4 of radiant being basically an endless stream of 60+ vaugely threatening ennemies per map for the sole reason that we need to shove exp down the throat of the two thirds of the cast because they're severly underlevelled compared to the greil mercenaries. (same applies to about any chapter of the dawn brigade past part 1.)

And conversely, that part 3 plot felt like "ike and co fights beignion. because... because. And then, nothing interesting happens for 10 chapters".

I liked it more for emphasizing that Ashera had an army just that large always facing them down and she was bringing people back to life as soulless dolls with blessed equipment to make fhsm all more threatening then they'd be otherwise.

I'd have liked that just fine if there wasn't the obvious dynamic of "lagging behind team vs weak mooks because you really need exp." The chapters where you play greil mercenaries were my favorites in part 4 and it was because for the most part they were up to level and I could stop worry about growths, levels, and cathcing up and actually mow down an army.

[up]x4 Corrin's just doing really low damage compared to, say, Takumi or Hana.

I don't think the theory of playing catch-up really holds, though. Your final team isn't all that large, so there's really no point in giving excessive amounts of EXP to the other 3/4 of the cast just doesn't matter in the long term (it does make the two Part 4 maps they're in easier, but long as they are, it's just two maps). I'd agree that it's more supposed to push the point of an epic battle between Ashera's army of what's essentially zombies and the strongest fighters among the remnants. I'd also say it fails to execute it quite properly. They're large maps with a huge amount of enemies that have just enough bulk to make taking them down a slog and it doesn't help that the map music screams, "Slog!" the entire way through.

I gotta ask, do any Fire Emblem Final Battle maps let you field everyone who's still alive?

[up][up][up]that's a fair point. I guess I could have saved myself some of the trouble Had I played the game with that mentality.

[up][up][up] Gaiden/Echoes does as well.

Haven't played Radiant Dawn, but I get the impression that juggling between separate parties within a single savefile would cause problems with levelling and unit investment and such. Gaiden/Echoes got away with that because there's only two factions and you control them simultaneously from mid game until the final battle.

Don't remember if Shadow Dragon and Thracia did.

You can't deploy the entire army in the final battle of Echoes. In fact that's the only non-dungeon map where that is the case. (Dungeon maps have a cap of ten people).

I was limited to like, 16 or 18 people and your party by the time Celica and her group join you is 33 or so, assuming nobody's snuffed it and you recruited the max possible.

(Edit, checked the wiki, it's Alm, Celica + 18 people from their parties.)
