His new special just came out. It was amazing. Possibly one of the greatest musical comedy acts of all time. Did anyone else see him?

I saw it, didn't really care for it. The song where he brought up irony was okay, although some of his examples seemed a little too close to collegehumor's "Actually Ironic" video. I think the only bit of his I've ever actually liked was the rehab for fictional characters. I think Stephen Lynch is a way better musical comedian but YMMV.

Behold wondrous rapidity!

I liked it at first, but he quickly started reeking of Small Reference Pools (knowing that Oedipus fucked his mom doesn't make you well-read, it made you that guy who only paid attention to the perverted bits in your English class).

He also came off as pretentious, not just in the way he took on religion and hip-hop but his take on "stand-up comedy of the 70s and 80s"—he basically took the era of George Carlin, Steven Wright, and Andy Kaufman and lumped those guys in with the era's Lowest Common Denominator crap. Hey, asshole, guess what—how would you like it if in another thirty years people lumped you in with Carrot Top and Dane Cook simply because of your years active? And another thing—the second you look your audience in the eye and say something funny, you're doing stand-up. You have nothing to prove to anyone, and that bit and that constant uncomfortable look on your face just made you come off as insecure.

.*pant* *pant* *pant* Okay, I'm done. Maybe I'm taking him a bit too seriously, but that's how I felt while watching it. Besides that one snippet I quite liked most of the special. The guy's very musically talented and has a talent for wordplay and timing. He just needs to do a bit more research is all.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

I've only seen his initial Comedy Central special, shit was incredibly awkward and painful to watch...and not in the funny Cringe Comedy way.

You can get what you want and still not be very happy.
