Rewatching, is that an enemy demon using a magatsuhi move that isn't Omagatoki Critical (Loup-garou using Freikugel EX in this case)?! That was one of the things on my wishlist for an Updated Re-release.

Mastema sounds like Doug Erholtz is reprising the role from IV.

I'm curious if this is asshole Mastema who pretends to be a good guy but just wants a promotion, or if it's unironic good guy Mastema like from IV.

Compromise: It's unironic good guy Mastema from IV, but you have to kill him on all routes no matter what.

I find myself wondering what sort of dynamic Mastema will have with Abdiel, assuming the two end up interacting a lot in Vengeance.

The trailer also shows that Tao will be in her Panagia form, though I wonder if the circumstances in how she ends up there will differ in Vengeance.

Very curious to see if he interacts with Dazai. Like, say what you will about Abdiel and Dazai, but they have a bizarrely compelling dynamic by SMT Law standards.

Far more wholesome than Mastema and Zelenin. Or Johnathan and the four archangels.

Or....whoever the law rep in SMT 3 was supposed to be.

I remember it being hinted in V, I think by Baal and Zeus, that the Hero is not necessarily Aogami's Knowledge but rather a "universal" Knowledge so I wonder if that's actually coming into play here with that possible Tsukuyomi form. Meaning there could also be an Abdiel form too...?

It looks like the 女魔 race has been localized as "Qadištu." Not too surprising.

On closer examination, it looks like the protag gets jumped by Lilith and Co. and that's what triggers their transformation into their new form. Presumably after an unwinnable fight.

Mastemas VA is surprisingly the same one who voiced him in SMT 4, Doug Erholtz.

@Comicx 6: The best take for this is that he’s potentially a suitable vessel for any Snake/Bull God. Of which Amaterasu AND Susanoo fit both categories.

Potentially them fitting Tsukuyomi into this as well based on his new form too.

Unless I was completely misreading the scene, it looked like that fight was around level 60. The level cap in the Vengeance route gets raised to 150 at some point.

Given that the Vengeance route is said to have two endings, I wonder if it's going to be an early bad end and a true end sort of deal.

Oh no, I just know we're going to get something like the Persona IV Apocalypse bond ending.

I should have expected there to be a fight against all four Qadištu.

I don't know how much of a pain that fight will be, but I will say that the animation for Qadištu Entropy looks pretty rad.

There’s likely to be multiple fights against them as a group I bet. The first we lose and potentially the second could be a tie, and the third the final.

@Watashiwa: That was Miyazu, whose made previous comments about how she hates someone specifically for dragging Yuzuru in all this(Also Khonsu this time fighting Nahobino on what’s suggested to be her behalf).

Nahobino's new form is so similar in appearance to Serph (Down to having a new Melee attack that basically even gives him the same type of Arm blades as Varna) that it feels like a massive hint towards a DDS remaster down the line.

If the new Nahobino form is related to (spoilers for base game) Tsukuyomi, then it's kind of funny that now all of the Alignment Nahobinos are playable in some way: Abdiel and Nuwa are recruitable demons, while Tsukuyomi is fused with the protagonist.

If this is what the writers are going for, I'm guessing that Vengeance will probably introduce one or more demons who want the Nahobino to be their Knowledge. It wouldn't surprise me if Lilith ends up deciding to try and fuse with him at some point; maybe it depends on what Vengeance route you're on?

Guess we'll just have to wait and see what the story brings.

Looking at the PV02 trailer again, I wonder what the snake-like monster firing the red beam is supposed to be, especially since we see multiples of that thing shortly after its initial appearance in the trailer. It's probably related to the Qadištu given the snake-like appearance, but I wonder if it's a One-Winged Angel type transformation for them, something similar to Shesha, or none of the above.

It should also be noted that besides the design motifs(sans being purple) matching Tsukuyomi his skills specifically reference the moon, especially in Japanese in reference to the Moon skills Tsukuyomi had as well. Or the fact he has a scythe blades ala the Scythe of Tsukuyomi or the sickle based weapon of Khonsu.

Also there’s the addition of a snake motif and what does blue plus red make? Purple!

The snake motif is around the head btw, the fang like markings of the face mask and the fin like ears invoking a reptile. So they’re definitely going all in on this being the story of Snek.

Don’t forget Samael has not shown up as his own demon in the game. It could easily be a form he takes outside of hanging out with Lilith.

Has anyone here played Ronde? I've known literally nothing about this game other than "it was so bad it killed its own side-series." But I've always been curious to know how true that actually is.

So uhhhh Personas and the cognitive world are supposed to be the same beings as the demons and angels of SMT right?

Like, Morgana goes into a whole spiel about how belief fuels the cognitive world and what's real or not, which is also a thing for Angels and Demons in SMT. It's sort of why I think Yaldy and YHVH are the same being but in different states of being due to the divergence.

Granted, if belief fuelled everything about angels and demons, then Lucifer and Satan would be the same guy.

It’s best to think it’s similar but not always the same. Gods and demons can create humans just as humans can create them, sometimes they existed before humans are ever a thing and other times only after(Former is SJ, SMTI/II/Raidou), etc.

Digital Devil Saga has one of the Karma Society NP Cs in the Junkyard basically describe demons as cannibal Personas, and a number of THOSE people are reincarnated demons from other universes like the Archangels/Satan/Seth from SMTI-II’s Universe.
