The sound so far's never been fixed. If their HD remaster album is any indication, there's still a few dozen minor tracks Atlus just doesn't have the original files for. Still, I think it'll be up to the fans to mod in as much high quality music as they can into the PC port.

I seriously can't believe how much information is tucked away in the NPC dialogue for DDS 1. Not going back after a cutscene to talk to everyone easily leaves someone out on half the character development in the game. Heat's canonically a metalhead. The loving detail consistently characterizing even the unnamed tribe members is crazy.

Maybe it's because I'm a sucker who paid $60 for the Mario collection (all games that, like Nocturne, I've never played before, mind), but in a world where "gamers are ready for $70 MSRP" is a thing I consider anything under sixty a win.

Weirdly, that's actually precisely one of the reasons why $50 for Nocturne is such a hard pill to swallow for me.

I happily shelled out for those even though I own 2/3 of them and still think they're a fine deal. They're $20/game that... average out the same generation as Nocturne, after all.

Shelling out more for a PS 2 game with the slightest of graphical upgrades and some technical issues than I did for P 5 R last month breaks my mind.

If it were twenty dollars less, I think that would be acceptable. It's no 5 R if you want strictly plot and calendar stuff, but Nocturne's got one of the higher replay values in mainline. It helps there's almost no tutorial, so once you're thrown in the thick of it, you can immediately start assembling your team builds.

No excuse for the high price now, though. Even great 6th generation games shouldn't cost 50$.

Apperently the pre-orders of Nocturne HD are going VERY well already in the West. It's in the top 30 most sold games on both PS 4 and Switch on Amazon right now, and before it was actually second place in Nintendo Switch and First on PS 4 in the same ranking board.

Pretty good for a PS 2 Remaster.

So, for you Drakengard Fans out there.

What if Ending E and Nocturnes Conception happened at the same time?

[up] The Demon Ending of Nocturne would happen. The Vortex World can't be remade without humans.

I'm imagining some bastard hellspawn of press turn and Yoko Taro rhythm mechanics. I really want to see another Vortex World, they can be made into anything if the right humans show up to give a Reason.

More likely, the giant zombie virus would infect willing demons, probably kill off the Manikins in short order, and take over that faction to fight with Chaos and Law, and any Reason barers are caught in the middle. I say willing, because surely the demons pouring out of the Amala Network can adapt to biology from another universe just fine, they've implied to have done it several times.

would WCS even work on demons? I mean in the grand scheme of things humans are a homogenuos group. Built up immunity and vaccines aside a virus that infects humans on one side of the globe is going to infect humans on the others. Demons are a broad classification covering everything from your garden variety hellfire and brimstone demons to mytholigical creatures to the undead to angels to cryptids to gods to even some humans. Not to mention a good chunk of them know or have the potential to learn healing magic

Ordered myself a copy of the 3DS version of Devil Survivor 2. While I'll be playing on the easiest difficulty that hasn't stopped other games in the franchise (SMTIVA, the FE x SMT Crossover Switch port, and P5S to be specific.) from giving me trouble so I wanted to ask, what should I expect and what are some tips for making the game easier on myself? I haven't played the first Devil Survivor either so it's not like I have that to go off of.

  • Expect the usual Early Game Hell.
  • The Dance skills are godsends.
  • The Devil Survivor games have a mechanic where enemy teams can be taken out all at once if you eliminate the leader first and sometimes you'll want to do that to end things quickly even if it means less EXP and money.
  • Flight, Kishin, and especially Tyrant demons are incredibly useful thanks to their unique racial traits.
  • While some of them can be game breakers when used in certain ways, I personally don't like using passives and demons that take away your ability to gain extra turns.
  • Devil Survivor 2 actually does allow you to partially fail some of those "stop the NPCs from escaping the map" missions.
  • There's plot-based permadeath that, for the most part, is easy to avert as long as you see the doomed characters' scenes ASAP when the time comes.

Genma and Flight are good for moving around a lot on battles where you need to move.

Kishin and Dragon/Vile are good for sniping from afar twice.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

[up][up] Watching Otome drop a 150% damage, 1-MP Megidolaon on an enemy is pretty funny.

  • Multi-Hit can demolish a single target, and Multi-Strike can demolish an entire enemy party... as long as the user is fast enough. Hinoka can eventually become one of your best damage dealers.

  • You fall back in the turn queue each time you get attacked. Serpents' unique skill will prevent this.

Might be a good idea to have a way to restore MP in every team, espexially magic ones. Tyrant and Divine, among other things, have racial skills to restore them.

Drain is ridiculously good. Costs next to nothing, deals good damage, and restores both HP and MP. It's also Almighty, so nothing can resist it.

Magic built is the best. Magic stat also buffs Drain, so with high magic your MC can spam costly spells without much trouble.

The games being extremely dialogue-heavy visual novels with otherwise brutal battle segments kinda turned me off a bit, despite liking the story of Desu 1 so far.

Yeah... I ended up cancelling the order after hearing about the Early Game Hell nature of it. That combined with the pricing turned me off of it.

[up][up] When you put it that way, I can see why the games may not appeal to fans of the mainline Mega Ten games. And while I love DS 2, I liked the Persona games more that the main series.

Alriiiiiiiiiight, Let's Survive!!!!

Yep, booted up DeSu1. I've just played the first half hour but I like it more than its sequel so far. For our cast we've got Atsuro the "Junpei"-type character (though actually intelligent), Yuzu the "Yukari"-type character, Naoya the protag's shifty cousin who I already think must be affiliated with Lucifer, if not actually an incarnation of him, a weird new age religion that worships the Internet (as if social media doesn't already cause enough grief, geez), and of course, as always the stars of the show, the demons.

Seems our primary myth motif this time is the Tower of Babel and reclaiming the "primal tongue" said to have been lost in that Biblical episode; awesome!
