In which we learn Rock has a type in men, where his type in women is "red hair and healthily curvy".

So what I'm getting from this is that Rock would absolutely do James Ironwood.

I mean, that guy did get nicknamed "Irondaddy" by the fandom.

I mean, not to undercut Rock here, but they're all characters in Marvel comics. If they had to, all of them could come back from the dead easily (in fact, fairly certain Cable has already).

I mean, not to say his logic is bad regardless of that fact.

Yeah, but not dying is Deadpool's superpower (not to mention his separate curse of immortality), so he can walk off a deathstroke logically, not just narratively.

True, but part of Rock's schtick is that he also knows the narrative conventions that each operate under.

I thought it was pretty funny as well.

They both had great sass.

I hope she's feeling better and got some rest.

So... has the comic been abandoned?

I know the last news post said she needed a break, and I'm well aware that the comic was just a hobby for Coel in the first place, but not even a word about the comic status (still active on Twitter, per the sidebar for the MGDMT homepage) for four months has me wondering.

Good question.

She may have addressed it somewhere on Twitter. If you're on Twitter, I'd suggest checking her old posts before asking, but a quick check of this strip's comments suggest she hasn't mentioned it.

I did see one very spot on post she retweeted:
"So, here's a thing about the assault on trans rights. The repercussions of any official bigotry are always far, far in excess of whatever the actual law says. What they put down on paper becomes the excuse for everything they don't."

I seem to remember her tweeting about it a month or two back. From what I recall, she's not officially abandoned it yet, but she is having a hard time bringing herself to pick it back up because she doesn't want to half-ass it, and she doesn't quite have the spark for it that she used to.

It's an achievement to have brought it this far. Comedy is freaking exhausting.

When the creator has lost interest or motivation, it's better to wrap everything up neatly while you still can and just end it, rather than try to eke out content and have it limp along. MGDMT has provided a lot of fun over the years, and I think bringing it to a graceful end in some sort of final arc over the next few months would be for the best.

Does it really need a final arc, though? It's not like it was a plot heavy comic with a bunch of loose ends. If Coelasquid is burned out, then I see no need to make more.

It'd be nice to give some of the original characters some sort of "what they're up to" update. I can't think of anything at the moment that's lacking in resolution, since most of the original character stuff is self-contained and already resolved, or the characters are mostly reasonable (since Tank got sorted out).

There's no unsettling implications of the Tethercat Principle, but an actual ending would be nice, even if it's And the Adventure Continues.

Still no new strip, but all of this month's comments on the last strip have been supportive, and that makes me feel good.

So, I've been binging the comic tonight. Got as far as this as we speak.

I just learned the writer does not like pretty boys. Or Japanese RPGS?

She does not. She's got more of a thing for big, muscly dudes with chins the size of oil tankers.

She likes Cyborg Raiden, though.

Everybody likes Raiden. Those who don't just hate not-Snake.

She feels sympathetic towards Cyborg Raiden. He's been through some shit after all. Not the least of which was losing most of his body.
