I'm very interested in this, and will make a character later, but I have one important note.

Troperion? tongue

Ah, I see.

The irony is entertaining, though. 'Course, we don't go by that anymore, so it's all good.

Is this character ok?

  • Faction: Guardian Angel
  • Name and Callsign: Alinzar Bodaspas, Old Sage
  • Rank: E3
  • Age: 38
  • Sex: Male
  • Nationality: Thatra
  • Job: Shell Operator
  • Shell/shadow description: A bipedal, desert-camo painted Shell with two vertical launch missile packs on its back, with a large number of small missiles. Both arms have thick, tough blades running down their forearms, and a scaled-up three round burst assault rifle is carried. It's specialized for support roles, fighting at a range with its launchers.
  • Appearance, characteristics, posture, etc.: Alinzar is a Thatra native, having lived his entire life in its deserts. As such, he's an expert in keeping quiet and hidden, and for seeing things in whiteout situations (sandstorms, rainstorms etc.). He wears a light, white shirt with his old gang's insignia sewn on it, but he's been thinking of swapping it out for a Guardian Angel sigil. Has dark hair and skin, like many natives, and rarely finds time to shave, although a full beard would get in the way.
  • Personality: A Smug Snake, sneering at the Choirs outwardly but being afraid of them inwardly. Dislikes direct combat, instead supporting wholeheartedly the Guardian Angels' strategy of quick strikes and ambushes. However, he has little actual loyalty to them, besides that they'll keep him out of the law's reach. The one thing he really cares about are Shells- he's almost a fanboy of them.
  • Backstory: Growing up in Thatra, he very quickly ended up a fugitive from the law at 17, after being caught smuggling weapons in his family's truck. Fleeing to the hills, he ended up involved in a anti-government force, where he first encountered Shells in the form of both their single, broken-down machine and the Troperion's gleaming hunting squads. While he was never able to pilot it, by the age of 20 Alinzar had become obsessed with Shells, constantly looking for opportunities to acquire one for himself. Eventually ascending to leadership of what amounted to a Ragtag Bunch of Misfits, he attempted a daring raid on a transport convoy carrying them. Unsurprisingly, it failed miserably, with almost every member of the gang being massacred by a single enemy Shell, and Alinzar once again fleeing from the scene, trying to fade into the background of city life. However, the law eventually caught up, but by then Alinzar had found a way out- Guardian Angel.

The only thing I'm unsure about is the backstory, which is open to change if you want. And if a player wants to be that 'single enemy Shell' that'd be awesome.

Hells no. I am scaling this thing. It looks good so far. I am in for it and will post something once I finish the wall and get an idea.

  • Faction: Guardian Angel
  • Name and Callsign: Mstislav "Mist" Zolnerowich, Mist
  • Rank: E2
  • Age: 18
  • Sex: Male
  • Nationality: Literia
  • Job: Choir
  • Shell/shadow description: A Fragile Speedster Spider like Shadow with four razor sharp legs and two main fully automatic weapons with near Bottomless Magazines dedicated to overwhelming and suppressive fire. Light weight, dedicated to ambushing and withdrawing under quick suppressive fire. Has a relatively flat top allowing Mist to ride the Shadow in close quarter charges and for transport purposes.
  • Appearance, characteristics, posture, etc.: Young boy with medium length scrappy brown hair usually over a red hair band, roughly of average height and weight. He wears the khaki variant of the uniform with his sleeves rolled up and uses a long barreled sniper with a bayonet in battle, which in close quarters combat or a top his shadow can double as a Lance.
  • Personality/Backstory:Among the first abducted, Mist was more or less raised by the Guardian Angels. He has developed a deep hatred of those who would abuse their power. He targets most of his anger at the Troperion Empire for their crimes against humanity and human experimentation projects and has vowed to take them down. When he is in battle he tends to be driven more by emotions, sometimes causing him to make mistakes in the heat of the moment. Outside of battle however he retains his strong sense of justice and manages to stay friendly, though he remains somewhat stern, quiet and bookish, he is also the first one who will jump in to help out someone in need.

Sup Faux. An idealist outranked by a Smug Snake terrorist... Reminds me of the Federation already, only with Jaedong in charge. :P

Also, maybe you should chop up the wall of text, Scrye. It'd help... I know it almost drove me off. >_<

Hey Hydrall. Shounen wannabe protagonists generally aren't too far up the ranks. Though he's sort of a wierd combination between Lancer and Hero, we'll see which way the dynamics make him swing.

As for the intro Wall chopping is probably a good idea, but I'm not in a position to throw stones with my Code Geass RP's intro. Maybe move it to discussion?

I didn't realize that bullets were going to be seriously limited, I sort of wrote it as an off handed joke, as most mechs tend to carry more munitions then they could reasonably be expected to.

Also keep in mind that these are just armour piercing bullets. Not huge missles. I'm not going to play it to absurd levels but I don't expect ammo on my primary weapons to run out mid battle.

Fair enough, generally R Ps don't keep too tight a track on these things. You've got more experience than me evidently so I'll leave you the judgement on how big a payload is practical without actually being a major attribute or detriment to the mech.

The levels of sci fi in this game are significantly harder than I suspected. I may have to rethink my character completely or at least edit a decent number of details.

I mean I originally intended this guy to use his Sniper rifle as a lance from on top of his giant robot spider. He's probably usable if he just sticks to sniping, but yeah. The lack of Rule of Cool may force some recharacterization.

As for the mech, I'm not sure of the scale, but it's likely on the lower end of it. Probably comparable in size to a tank on legs minus the turret?

I edited the hell out of the above post, which makes rather clear that I was going light on all the various forms of hard and just running with rule of cool.

Not really.

Though there is a part of me wondering how we're counting rounds of ammo that a mech can carry but using a sniper as a lance a top a Spider Tank passes without comment.

Ah. I actually hadn't thought of that and now as a whole he seems a bit weak. I planned him out mostly for anti-personal attacks. The bayo was assuming that this was basically on par with G Gundam and he'd charge on top of his mech stabbing at anything squishy. Though there are a few weird applications I can think of yet [read: weaponizing his legs] before I cast him off as totally useless. His main strength though is probably going to have to be his speed, size and flexibility.

Hm...
