There is a lot of X/Y stuff we'll have to get to once we've played the games properly.
X/Y seem to make a few retcons that make more sense of things, at the least in terms of Eggs I'm told.
Type system changes can be a result of newer analysis. Like how the USDA changes the Food-Pyramid-equivalent every few years.
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?Early on in X/Y a pair of researchers mention that Fairy was a new type they had just classified, so...
And "turns the type system on its head", yes.
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?I'm reminded of that little fic you wrote IIRC for a Serebii contest, Tangent XD
It'd probably be closer to Sports Leagues. Such as the MEAC or the East and West Conferences.
Pokemon Training is a sport; so I would imagine that they cut up regions of the country (and international) and set rules of play (that mirror the IRL rules).
Thus New Types are delineated; movesets are banned, Pokedex are edited. Of course; sicne Gen's 1 and 3 AND 2 and 4 happened at the same time...
Casual talk is a debate you have to win.Heh, X/Y actually seem to be pretty consistent with said fic so far. (Can't post it publicly until the judging finishes, alas.)

Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?Once the lock is lifted on Gen VI entries, I'd like to rewrite the entry on Pokemon Centers and maybe start articles on Psychic type and battle types and/or contests.
Converted a bunch of old articles into wiki articles today.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. Then how would you explain the Remakes versus the original games? Or Emerald versus its precursors? (At least Platinum could have a time difference vs. D/P.) To me, your view would presuppose that the individual species could adjust their habits at will. In essence, the Leagues make the Pokemon, instead of vice versa.
In any event, how does Pokémon Conquest fit into this?
My take is that Conquest actually is the equivalent of the Sengoku era, albeit in Broad Strokes. The chief takeaway being that since there are 17 "Houses", an individual "House" requires the support of 8 other "Houses" to gain a majority and hence the Shogunate; this would be the basis for the 8-badge requirement of the modern Leagues, even if the Championship has become nothing more than an Ceremonial post. (I still hold tat the Institutional Champion still has command of the Trainers-In-Arms in the event that an Army is actually needed, with the Gym Leaders serving as Field Officers.)
If it's possible, I would like to add some more meat to the Magikarp line article, and the Pidgey article definitely needs more meat. On the Gen VI side, I would like to know when it would be possible to make dibs, as I would like to write the Tyrunt Line article, having more than passing familiarity with tyrannosaurs. I would offer to write the Goodra line as well, but with the requests for the above two rewrites/additins I think that would push me over the limit. I have no idea how to get in touch with the original authors though.
As for weighing in on the above: This does not explain how the 8 badges system is decided on for decidedly non-Japanese regions such as Unova (NE USA) or Kalos (France). As we get more gens, I think they're going to continue to fish outside of Japan for regional inspiration. I also do not think that Gyms would be equivalent to the army-the Pokemon there are, after all, trained to NOT go for lethal attacks, although I could be misinterpreting what exactly you mean by Trainers-in-Arms.
As for the games...it seems to me that, given the scene in the anime's first season where they quite clearly are playing a battle in Blue/Red, the games are nothing more than simulations drawn up to help prepare trainers for their journeys while also providing an elementary education. While this does not preclude them being based on events, in this case of course type matchups will periodically change as people discover different types. Steel was obviously discovered fairly quickly, but maybe Fairy took a little longer for someone to notice, connect the dots, publish their findings, and then have them accepted and verified by the community at large.

Depending on the original authors, you can just PM them. Not sure what to do if they're one of many who aren't around the site anymore.
Funny thing, those articles actually don't LIST the original authors in their credits. So I have no idea who they are, and thus how to contact them.
In other words, I have more or less no chance of getting permission to bulk them up? If that is indeed the case, may I write the Basculin article? It seems someone has dibs on Magikarp revision in any case.
Well if someone's disappeared for a while we generally go ahead and make the article free for anyone to revise.
(And Basculin should be fine.)
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.@Donald
You mean the version species differences? Different games in the same gen are just A Us of each other. That's been canon for years.
Casual talk is a debate you have to win.I'd really want to join this, but as much as I'm impressed with the articles I doubt I'd be able to write anything good myself =P
I just wanted to add a few errors I noted in the dex:
As far as Donphan goes, Alcohol (or at least ethanol) actually boils at a LOWER temperature than water.
On the fossils: To my knowledge, oxygen levels were really only significantly higher than now during the Carboniferous period. During the Mesozoic-and prior-oxygen levels were either roughly the same or even lower than they are today, although this is a point of some contention.
Yeah; that smacks of trying to hard to be "realistic" and having it backfire.
Casual talk is a debate you have to win.@Donphan: Well we've been meaning to get that changed for some time since that comes from a time period I like to call "Overly-edgy".
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Heh, oh the 4chan threads...
Casual talk is a debate you have to win.Is it just me, or Greninja using Extrasensory looks like it's trying to damage enemy by staring at it? That is, Greninja's Extrasensory = Deadly Stare?
...considering canon G6 Pokémon page says Extrasensory=Mind Rape, this might be plausible...

"Screw it, I AM going to enjoy this game!"This image might do well on the Fennekin line page once it's written: http://azyomecha.deviantart.com/art/Pokemon-WITCHES-409647921
I've just realized thought of something: If someone does an Espurr page, they should DEFINITELY include a shoutout to Carrie, considering the Pokemon's Thousand-Yard Stare and ability to KILL PEOPLE who touch their ears......
DAMMIT MARK, STOP HOTTING HELPY!!
So... I just found this, and would like to participate.
Unfortunately, it would seem someone already called dibs on my favorite pokemon (Mawile) so I don't really know which one to try for...
(But this does bring up an interesting question- how to go about with the Mega-Evolutions and the pokemon that became fairy type- or have you all figured that out already?)
