The link to the Fire Sanctuary page in the last page links to the website and not the article itself. This should be a better link to the actual article.
As for the stuff brought up on the page:
- I think we all figured it'd be more than just a remaster.
- The fixing of clunky or unrefined elements from the original game have me thinking they're talking about how repetitive the combat was and how there wasn't any fast travel and it seems they want to work in Automata's superior combat.
- While we knew a while back how 2B, 9S, and A2's Japanese VA's would appear in Replicant 1.5, them not reprising their roles from that game is newsworthy. Maybe not unexpected, but part of me was thinking there'd be some framing device like 2B and 9S digging around the info 9S found regarding Yonah and then somehow time travel to set right what once went wrong.
RE: Chris Hackney as both versions of Brother Nier: I'd have to check him out but hey, Post-Time Skip!Brother Nier's Japanese VA also does Shadow the Hedgehog? Interesting thought. Maybe Chris can take over for Kirk Thornton if something comes up for the latter...
RE: Re[in]carnation: It's a gacha game? Like Dragalia Lost?
...Why do I get the feeling it's going to be an "eff you" to gacha games the same way the other DrakenNier games were "eff you's" to the average JRPG?

There is a flashback in Fire Emblem: Three Houses where Dimitri is a kid, and even there, he's voiced by Chris Hackney and he sounds legitimately like a child.
It's been 3000 years…...Why do I get the feeling it's going to be an "eff you" to gacha games the same way the other Draken Nier games were "eff you's" to the average JRPG?
can't wait for Yoko Taro's biting satire of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp
I'm sure you jest, but I'm pretty sure Animal Crossing is considered hallowed ground to Yoko Taro.
I remember when he wrote about how excited he was for "AC". Everyone assumed he meant Assassin's Creed, but nope! Yoko Taro was referring to Animal Crossing.
IIRC, there was a time he tweeted about playing Pocket Camp but I can't remember when that was.
We have some famitsu screenshots of the Replicant remaster and reincarnation.
It looks like the polygon count and lighting have been improved noticeably.
Asked whether the girl is the protagonist, Yoko Taro explained that it’s difficult to explain, but the plan is to have multiple protagonists that will appear in the game. Saito-san added that there will be many.
We also hear that it takes inspiration from various gacha mechanics and the story spans multiple plots. That being said, even if it sells well, the end of the story will come. It’s actually a story in which the “goals” are repeated. It’s similar to Puzzle & Dragons in the way that you clear a stage and then you move on (even if Saito-san mentions that it’s not actually similar, and Yoko Taro confirms that there is nothing really similar indeed). On top of that, there is no PvP and the dungeons are called “ships.”
oh thank god that was the biggest reason I tapped out of Sinoalice
Also I'm glad there is a definitive endpoint planned because I found those kind of mobage a lot more enjoyable as they're actually striving for something rather than just the addition of more content for further longevity
RekkaAlexiel from FireSanctuary has more info from the Famitsu interview.
- The camerawork in the cutscenes is the same as the original in Replicant (this is fine IMO, I don't think people would have wanted this to be different anyway). Replicant will have fully voiced dialogue this time around, apparently for the Weapon stories too?
-The protag from Reincarnation was designed by Akihiko Yoshida.
- Reincarnation will have a clear, definitive ending that it will build towards.
- He compares it to Puzzle and Dragons where you have to clear stages to progress.
- Reincarnation is the most text-heavy Nier game to date.
Would love to see an Actual Visual Novel from Taro. Maybe work with people from the Science Adventure series (Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes, Chaos;Head, Etc), since their storytelling can be similarly dark (Especially Chaos;Child and Steins;Gate 0, and the Stuff Rintaro Goes through in the latter would make how Taro treated Emil and 9S seem quaint in comparison).

Watch SymphogearYoko Taro and visual novels fit really well together, and I'm surprised that isn't talked about more.
It's been 3000 years…Someone on reddit did a comparison with one of the screenshots of the same environment from og Nier.◊
The bloom seems to have been toned way down (and by extension, the lighting looks more realistic), the trees are way more detailed, and so on.
Looking forward to seeing the character models.
Yeah, the Bloom was really oversaturated in the original. It felt like the devs wanted to mimic Ico and Shadow of the Colossus (Of which Taro is also a big fan of, to the point of influencing many of his game design decisions like how it did for Hidetaka Miyazaki and the Souls series) but missed the mark on how much bloom they needed for a similar shading of sunlight.
Taro has stated his love for Kazutaka Kodaka's Dangan Ronpa and Uchikoshi's works (Like Zero Escape), so working with their new studio (Too Kyo Games) would be fun, too.
Watch SymphogearThe bloom was probably the greatest villain of the original Nier.
God this is going to be so awesome. Forget just getting a sequel by Platinum, who ever thought the OG Nier would be rebuilt in such an extravagant way?
I'm looking forward to playing it on 60FPS maxed out on PC.
...I hope it's 60FPS. The original can already do that on RPCS 3.
Hope the PC port ends up being better than Automata's too. It runs without any issues for me but a sizable minority of people cannot get the game to play well at all and SE is probably never gonna do anything about it.
New details of NieR: Re[in]carnation with some character profiles and a beta test opening on July 29
Trailer for Re[in]carnation, which also confirms that battling will be its own separate thing from exploring the various levels.
From the footage, the girl calls the little ghost "Mama". And those look like YoRHa units in the battle scenes.
It's been fun.For a second I thought that was wordplay based on the fact that the Greater-Scope Villain of Nier and Drakengard is a flower.
Disgusted, but not surprisedHmm:
- So Girl in White does indeed have bandages on the same leg as Kaine. If she is Kaine's reincarnation, I could see why she'd be trapped in the Cage to "atone for her sins" Seeing as how Kaine was the one who destroyed the final Gestalt-Replicant system reset failsafes in Grimoire Nier's "Ending E".
- Seems all the party members in battle came from the "memories" segments. I also notice they get "summoned" into battle by black and red energy mixed with the black scrawl text. Are they some sort of remnants of the Gestalts?
Digging the monster design. It's a bit...ambiguous, I guess, but it has a really nice silhouette.
...Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of my mind being blown right now.
Except...if all of humanity is kaput, how could Kaine be reincarnated? Unless the Girl in White is actually a robot?! Plus, that Mama thingie is totally going to be a robot, isn't it? Just pull the sheet and boom, robot.
Also, should we discuss how Yoko Taro is going to deconstruct the gacha game or do we not know enough about this game to go there?
Yoko Taro's the master deconstructor, so I have no idea how, but it's gonna be good, I feel.
It's been 3000 years…I struggle to be interested in this because I don't particularly like mobile games, but I have to admit that that by the standards of the platform it does look fairly ambitious.
Re[in]carnation closed beta footage
Emotive range is one thing, but I'm not sure of any anime dub V As who have such a broad age range. Japan has people like Jun Fukuyama and Daisuke Namikawa who have the ability to switch from youthful to mature on the drop of a dime, and the West has their share, but they usually aren't in the JP>EN dubbing industry specifically.
