With how much building a reploid army costs:

A modern android (a robot, not a phone) costs about $20,000 to $50,000. It's likely a "standard" reploid (IE, a humanoid one with no special capabilities) would cost about as much and works as a baseline. Admittedly, this is on somewhat shakey ground as a reploid would have more advanced computers and motors, and there's also economies of scale involved (modern androids aren't produced as much as Reploids are in Mega Man).

The cost of militarizing one is hard to say. Training and equipping a human soldier costs about $20,000. So I'd say a single Infantry Reploid costs will run you $50,000-$100,000.

Of course, the robots in Mega Man vary in quality. The Sniper Joes and similar robots are....pretty weak and were likely purchased on the cheaper side. By contrast, a robot like X-especially with all the armor upgrades-potentially ran Dr. Light millions of dollars, and is even "priceless" in a sense.

Reminder that X is ridiculously advanced even consideeing he was created a century before his series. Not to mention the copy ability.

You mean the same copy ability that Mega Man had in the classic series? And Bass too. And I'm like 90% sure Protoman also...

To be perfectly fair all of those are made by either Light or Wily.

It’s funny because a lot of background material make it clear that Wily is frequently low on funds or resources

Like how he built a robot out of junk. Multiple times

Or how he turned his car into a robot

Did Cossak ever build anything/one really cool? When I heard that Axl was this new character in X7 I had this headcanon that he was Cossak's answer to X and Zero, but I'm pretty sure that X7 established that Axl was built recently.

Dr Cossack's greatest creations: Pharaoh Man, to a lesser extent the rest of the MM4 robot masters, Tundra Man apparently, Beat, the cool big charged mega buster shot or Super Mega Buster, and of course Kalinka

It is a shame that Dr. Cossack as the Other Named Robot Scientist in Classic doesn't warrant influencing the X series but it would break the premise probably

Which hasn't stopped a lot of fan projects from putting fan character Ran in the X setting, although I think he was built by Kalinka instead.

He also made one of the MM 11 set, but I forget which one.

EDIT: Tundra Man XD

Master Mikhail references him in ZXA too.

[up][up][up] But can they be as cool as Pharaoh Man?

Back on the funding issues, one wonders if the Hunters are like a government organization or a private one funded by Cain, who's dead by x5 which might explain why the base is falling apart and the old equipment.

I mean, shit, aside from the cost of building them, it must cost a small fortune to keep X and Zero maintained, especially when no one understands how they work.

[up][up] Yeah but what does that mean? Is it just a continuity nod? Are the Sage Trinity intentionally taking the names to hearken back to three dead men that most of the world has never heard of? Whats going on there?

We'll neverrr know

[up] That and the less dev time due to yearly releases means less quality.

Like X 6 DOES have promise and it feels the dev team really did have love for the game, hence things like X's beam saber or Zero's new smoother animations, or the fact each maverick has their own backstory. I can tell there was ambition in this game.

[up][up] More like, and then Alia killed them in cold blood due to orders.

Girl's got a dark side.

[up] Yeah, at the debriefing section, Alia explains the deal of each maverick, but shit, the translation is a wreck, so i had to use the google docs translation project to get a better understanding.

Like Commander Yamato accidentally started a forest fire, then his jetpack was sabotaged vigilante style, and then he died. Or Shield Sheldon's boss turned Maverick, so he had to kill his boss in self defense, but was mistaken as a murderer by Zero's own unit and killed himself out of shame.

Alia was responsible for the initial deaths of Ground Scaravich and Blizzard Wolfang

And Wolfang's death was very "and make it look like an accident" where Alia threw him into the sea to die. While Scaravich's was more summary execution for not heeding a 'trespassers will be shot sign'

And those are only the two she admits to doing. But she knows an awful lot about the 'accidental' deaths of the others. It's a short leap of logic to think she was involved in those as well, even if not the one pulling the trigger.

Anyway, it was apparently her guilt from serial murder that made her quit being apparently a genius scientist (she seems to the only person Gate respected) and work as a navigator for the Maverick Hunters.

So because of her guilt she joins an organization that is essentially Judge, Jury, and Executioner.

That's not really a step up from her previous job.

[up][up] Yeah, that's what i assumed, like she described their murders in so much detail, that even if she didn't personally pull the trigger, she was an accomplice.

And she actually got promotions for it, but then she quit out of shame.

[up] The Hunters aren't perfect, but they won't label people mavericks for petty reasons, like jealousy or politics. Like X and Zero offered to allow Colonel and the Repliforce to explain themselves but they were the ones who refused.

I'd argue that sometimes the Maverick Hunters are used for politically motivated things since they do report to someone.

I'd like to think that Signas, X, and Zero wouldn't stand for it if they knew about it before they murdered someone.

They also aren't a secret murder conspiracy that was plotting to kill living, feeling robot people because of a grudge against their dad.

So in that sense it is a step up.
