Troper Updates II, Part II

In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.

Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

That attitude isn't conducive to improving.

Anyway, what about proportions is hard for you? Is it distinguishing genders or too long/short limbs or what?

I do have models of such, actually.

Is it ironically sad that when I try to make things cartoony, they end up realistic, and when I try to do cartoony, they just turn into some sort of weird pomo mess?

-hugs Zersk- Aaaaaaaaaah and I'm tired.

But it's only midnight...early right?

Not any more odd than me spending hours on a drawing that is vastly terrible compared to a sketch I spent ten minutes on, no.

Anyway, a repeat of my question. I can't help you any further unless I know what exactly the problem is, which means samples or talking.

Oh, sorry, was archive binging.

No, it's that they always end up... too short, or too big.

Do you use heads as a unit of measurement?

@Zersk -snuggles- Ahhh, Vesperia-ing all night has me all hyped, but that mixed with general sleepiness makes for a very sluggish Key...

-_- I wish I had someone to put me to bed without feeling like I'll miss anything.

@Lea - No.

Tried the box thing, too, but when I erase them, I erase them a BIT too much.

From a straight-on view, humans are generally:

-6-8 heads tall, meaning if you divided the height into 6-8 parts they would be roughly equal to the length of the head.

-Compared to the width of the head, the torso is roughly two heads, with the shoulders taking up another half each.

-Women's hips are generally wider, with the waist more defined and narrow. Men's hips are slim with the waist less defined and more rectangular.

Instead of drawing boxes, use your non-sketching hand to measure out heads and mark off measurements.

I'll have a tutorial up tomorrow after work.

I don't know. I just do.

I think I'll read a bit of Borges before I sleep, though.

^Why so?

^^It made me picture some kind of underachiever who does not at all mind that he is an underachiever.

@Tze: Which one are you reading?

It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.
