Hakkoumori Entrance

BGM:Towering cloud in summer

It was an uncharacteristically cool summer in Hakkoumori this year. Anyone who has been to Japan during the summer knows its summers to be hot, humid and generally unpleasant.

This was merely the first in a number of oddities in Hakkoumori and the village at its mouth.

The second was the noticeable lack of cicadas, a familiar sound to any Japanese native. Their loud whirs were not heard anywhere in Hakkoumori. The forest has never had any cicadas, and probably never will. Many other insects still live there, but just no cicadas.

The third is the architecture. The village outside of Hakkoumori was decidedly western style, owing to the fact that many Irish had lived here in seclusion since before the constitution was signed. twenty years or so after the war, the village decided to try and get some tourism in, so they built the camp and invited people to come visit.

The fourth, not unrelated to the third, is the townspeople. The townspeople would look Japanese to a foreigner, but to a native, they were obviously of mixed race. In true defiance of Japanese culture, the people of Hakkoumori welcomed the Irish had even interbred with them. As time passed, more and more inter breeding happened. and eventually, they were all distinctly "Hakkoujin". Even today it is not uncommon to meet people in the village with an Irish given name and a Japanese surname, or vice versa.

There hadn't been many visitors in a while, but this year, the were getting their first campers in a while. the camp staff rushed about making the final arrangements before their campers' bus from the city arrived.

The staff was minimal with only five people on board.

The camp director was Himiko McClellan, a cheery, dark brown-haired woman who inherited direction of the camp from her father. Even though she was 30 she was still unmarried, although to her, this didn't seem to be a problem, in spite of the standards of Japanese society. She loves stories around campfires, swimming in the lake, and taking a drink of whiskey after a long day.

The activities supervisor is Kujo Joshua, a devout Christian and lover of all things outdoors. He is a tall, muscular man with light brown hair. While devout by any means that matter, he broke the general rule among the Abrahmic religions by believing in other gods. However, he still believed that his is the one he should worship. Perhaps an experience in his past served to instill these peculiar beliefs?

The cook, Benidzuki Flann is a chatty young lady who loves food. She can cook a meal that makes anyone feel nostalgic and runs it off around the lake later. Her hair is dyed black at the ends, and retains its natural color, red, at the crown of her head. She has a nasty habit of flirting with the guests, male or female who visit.

Kyouya Flannagan is a slim young man that is the camp's navigator. In his youth he would frequently wander into the woods. Every time he went in, the village would sit at the edge of the forest and pray for his safe return, wailing in grief for the loss of another one of their children. But every time he came back within the hour. when he was a teenager he started bringing back any children who had wandered in. Now, the only time the villagers have to worry about losing their children is when he is at camp. But the children know better than to do so without him to find them, so no one gets lost.

Finally, Shirogane Quinn, the camp social worker. A kind, gentle woman who always listens to others. She is quiet and bookish, but when someone needs a shoulder to cry on, there is no one better. Although instead of her shoulder, people usually wind up crying into her ample chest.

"I can't believe we're getting more campers!" Flann shouted, jumping up and down in excitement. "It's been since I was a teenager since we've had many! I wonder how many of them are hot...." her smile suddenly shifted to a look of grim determination, her inner thoughts betrayed by a trail of drool oozing from her lips.

"Hey, enough of that. They're just kids," said Joshua "you should really try to be less lustful, Flann. It's not the worst sin to have, but it's not an easily overlooked one in this culture." Joshua gave his usual admonition to Flann. He wasn't the preachy type, and was open to other ideas, but he still believed that sins should be kept as few as possible.

"Hey you know I'd only **** with any of the legal ones."

"That's no better! And what's with that unladylike language?"

"Cool it you two, I swear to God, could you be anymore disruptive?" Kyouya smiled as he complained. He was prone to complaining but he rarely meant much by it, always doing so with a smile.

"I'll show you disruptive, pretty boy." Flann stuck out her tongue at Kyouya, who was like a big brother to her.

"I hope they're nice..." Quinn, as usual didn't say much. She was however internally skipping about excited to meet some new people.

"Well! I guess we'll just see, won't we? I can't wait for tonight's campfire!" Himiko crossed her arms and grinned widely, as if to say, "show me your worst, I'll have them perfect people by the time they leave!"

"Here it comes!!" Flann pointed down the road at a white bus with the destination sign displaying "Hakkoumori"

Meanwhile in the forest... At the altar by the lake.
BGM:Witch in gold cenba

The stone altar of the lake was a granite slab with not but a Celtic knot engraved into it. In front of it stood three figures, bathed by a multitude of floating silver lights.

"Oh goody..." Cian sighed. "Another gaggle of unruly filth seeking our assistance for their flaws. I truly tire of granting them absolution while getting nothing in return. It has been such a long time since we did something truly Fae like has it not?"

Cian then had a brilliant, cruel idea. The best kind.

In a flash of blinding light he appeared by the dock. "Why don't we slaughter these humans, just like the old days? It's been so long since I've heard a good scream. If we make it particularly brutal, that should fill this boring century's fun quota all in one go!"

A second voice cut into the first, emitting an eerie laugh.

"Hehehehehe... Cian, you're awful... The only way you can think of having fun with the humans is killing them?" In spite of his words, Ryanne's voice was frighteningly calm.

"Besides, instead of just slaughtering them like sheep, wouldn't it be fun to draw out their punishment and make them suffer?" He let out another laugh, this one more sprightly and jovial than the first.

"What fun is it ripping them apart if you can't see their tears..."

"ihihihihi" The laugh rang like small bell, but that bell was tolling for a funeral. "Naturally, but let's face it, the best part of the whole deal is crushing all of their hopes and prayers into bits."

The bus was hot, and smelled like old leather. Made sense- A white coat of paint, aluminum (or whatever it was, Seto wasn't sure) siding, and... Well, old leather seats.

Seto Namara sat near the middle, on the left side- No one had taken the seat next to him, but then again the bus wasn't full, and people kept moving around anyhow. Especially now as the camp came into view.

Idly, he wondered if the people who checked the luggage had taken his wooden slat he called a shinai- Probably, considering that it looked like a lethal weapon and thus would be equated as one. Not like he was any good with it.

The bus on the only road near Hakkoumori was always a welcome sight to the villagers who usually only ever left once or twice in their lives. Especially since the campers would get a while to mill about in the village before the staff lead them into the forest, not to return until their requested stay expired.

Smiling, Yamarai Hirana looked out the window. It was a beautiful day with only a few white clouds in the sky, contrasting against the light blue around it. The slight bump on the road returned him to reality. He, along with a group of other individuals were going to the Hakkoumori camp. Apparantly, they were the first group of such large size to go in a while.

The bus was quite aged and the interior was steaming, but Yamarai had gotten used to it. One of his talents was adapting to situations quite well.

The camp itself was supposedly one of cleansing oneself of his faults and becoming a better individual. Yamarai had heard about it a long time ago from a friend and had finally decided to give it a chance.

As the bus finally grounded to a halt after two hours of continous driving, Yamarai stepped up and left first, being the man in one of the frontmost seats. He was faced with 5 individuals, each seemed of differing ability and talent. Nonetheless, Yamarai bowed and greeted them.

"Nice to meet you. My name is Yamarai Hirana. Please take good care of me during our stay."

Well, nevermind.

Logan adjusted his glasses in the seat across from Seto, yawning lightly. He'd been sprawled across that seat for the duration of the trip, taking advantage of the good vantage point to examine his fellow campers.

We're going to be a quiet lot, he mused silently, Not that I'm excused from that crowd myself.

Most of the other passengers seemed pretty shy and reserved, save for that one boy, what had his name been? ...Hirana? Yes, that was it. He seemed the most friendly of the group, so far. And then there were the two youngest... Hopefully, they wouldn't get into any trouble, but Logan had decided he would do his best to make sure they didn't wander off too far... even if the long-haired girl was a little unnerving. The nearby woods were sure to be pretty dangerous, after all, what with all the reports of disappearances he'd heard.

A young person, who is named Yuki Takumi, donned a blue sweater and jeans, is sitting at the very last row of the bus leading to Hakkoumori. No one is sitting next to the boy, but he prefers it that way. He only has his headphones with him, but he is holding them. To Yuki, Hakkoumori is a beautiful place, and the only reason is that he could find a better life in Hakkoumori, without having to worry about his past. Yuki didn't mind the conditions of the bus, considering that he wants to be in a secluded location where no one is near him.

Yuki finally hears the bus halting, and he reluctantly gets out of the bus. However, he looked at the people at Hakkoumori, and he started to walk away from them a bit, putting his left hand on one of the pockets, and holding his headphones with the right hand.

Yamarai looked over the woman quickly. She wasn't young, but neither was she middle-aged. Her attitude suggested that she was experienced with such introductions and had been with the camp for a good time, but it would be foolish to expect that she could do much outside of the camp. Amoung the other four, there was also rather pretty girl with red.... and some other colour hair. The other three individuals did not really catch his eye.

"Thank you, I think I will take a look around."

Yamarai, stepping away from the entrance of the bus, took a quick stroll around the immediate surroundings. They were quite different from both Tokyo and Boston, Tokyo being where he was born and was now living in, and Boston being where he lived in for a few years. The forest was visible from where he was and looked quite different from any he had seen before, though he couldn't exactly determine why.

Seto nearly jumped out of the bus. Sitting around- fine. But not in a place like that!

He took in the sights- Forests stretching as far as the eye could see, which wasn't far at this level, and a cobblestone path- for real, not the fake kind you find at tourist traps- led the way into the village ahead, visible against the shadows of the trees.

"Like out of a book," he said, staring out at the forests, as if expecting to see something.

Despite promising herself she would work on being more open and friendly on this trip, Arakita Megumi had spent the entire bus trip with her nose in a book. There was plenty of time for socializing, she reminded herself; besides, it was a new book— Celtic mythology, which she'd only started studying— and she wanted to savour it for a while before involving herself in camp activities.

Megumi put the book away once the bus came to a halt. She checked her clothing, brushing an imaginary piece of lint off of her dark grey skirt and straightening her stockings, then stepped off the bus.

"Hello," she said in a soft, calm voice, "it is a pleasure to meet you. I am Arakita Megumi. I'm looking forward to my stay." She smiled softly for a moment before allowing her face to return to its usual stoic expression.

Shaking his head to clear it, Logan slipped off the seat and followed Yamarai eagerly out of the stuffy bus. Finally outside, he took a deep breath, and sighed. Aaahhhhh, fresh air! Smiling slightly wider than usual, he turned to the five people he assumed to be camp workers assembled nearby, only to have a girl brush past him without his notice.

Blinking in surprise, the albino's eyes took in the sight of her before once again turning to the staff, waving. "Good afternoon, everyone! Sheehan Logan."

While Yuki is walking around Hakkoumori, away from the residents at his current location, he was looking at the sights of Hakkoumori, with the very beautiful forest that catches his eye for a bit.

"All I ever wanted is to be alone," Yuki muttered to himself, with a bitter tone on his voice, "A place with only a few people around, and I can finally have the peace I wanted... However... This place, Hakkoumori... Looks very nice... And the air..."

Yuki suddenly stopped walking, and he puts on his headphones, and turns on the music on his headphones. Yuki can now wander around Hakkoumori, but he heads back to the staff, turning off his headphones.

"Takumi Yuki here, everyone." Those are all the words he said, to the staff.

To prove his point, Ryanne directs his attention to a small fly, causing it to stop in mid-air and run into the granite slab, killing it before returning his attention to the owner of the third voice.

"How could you not have fun under those circumstances?" He cracked a huge, childlike smile that wouldn't have looked so unnatural had it not been for what he was talking about.

Trying to brighten up the mood of the group, Yamarai decided to give a short little speech to the group.

Kadango Masato finally descended from the bus. It had been an unbearably long trip; she'd been stuck on the seat behind the boy Hirana, who'd tried what felt like several hundred times to draw her into conversation.

You'd think the first ten polite refusals would've made some kind of impression on him.

Nonetheless she smiled neutrally at the counselors as she introduced herself, and nodded with just a touch of impatience when Hirana went through the same spiel he'd been through with her.

Yuki, who is behind the rest of the group, listened to Yamarai's introduction. Yuki glanced at Yamarai a bit while he was speaking, but after he is done talking, Yuki didn't say a word, since he rather not introduce himself to other people, or speak, for that matter.

Yuki stood farther from the main group, not wanting to be involved in a conversation. He can listen to other people, but Yuki isn't really an open person. He has a serious face, but he isn't angry at anything.
