Didn't we already rename that?: Gas Chamber

I've found the YKTTW discussion about renaming it, but I'm surprised it hasn't actually been done. And as the YKTTW says, there is also the Deadly Gas trope...

I don't see any real consensus there to rename it. One person is adamantly insisting that "Gas Chamber trivializes the Holocaust" on these grounds: "As it is, it refers to all kinds of death trap, including some which are extremely pulp-ish and non serious, even humourous. That's what makes me feel it's trivializing."

Deadly Gas is about the gas itself, rather than the idea of deliberately filling an enclosed area with it. They aren't the same trope.

Medinoc, you'll need to back up your proposal with some indication that the name is flawed.

I really don't see the issue with this name, and I'm pretty sensitive to people trivialising the Holocaust. "Gas chamber" is the term for an enclosed space filled with toxic gas in order to kill people.

If it were called Zyklon B Shower and some examples are intentionally humorous, it would be trivializing the Holocaust. Gas Chamber, however, is a common noun modified by a simple adjective.

Not counting that Gas Chambers aren't used solely during the holocaust (what with being a method to execute the death penalty). So the Holocaust argument kinda looses points there.

I'm joining those calling Hitler Ate Sugar on playing up the Holocaust connotations of this name. Just because it was used in the Holocaust, doesn't mean that the trope is in and of itself bad (and even if it were, we catalogue tropes, we do not judge them, and the name is entirely neutral).

That was their most famous use, sure, but hardly the only one. The USA still uses this in certain states, albeit not many.
