Anyone read this?

It's something I picked up because I saw several pages from it posted on another forum, that had a girl with scissors in her panties and an obsession with drool. I started reading it for the "WTF, Japan??!" factor, but actually found it to be a pretty interesting and compelling narrative about growing up and the development of teenage sexuality and emotions.

I read it. Sometimes it's a bit of a guilty pleasure, but there are some surreal and artistic bits I really like.

Also, I like the idea of exploring how close, even invasive a relationship can get (she does read his mind on a regular basis after all,) without becoming downright dysfunctional (is theirs? Hard to say.)

I have to say though, drool makes a really weird Phlebotinum.

This week's was really interesting. I always felt that Urabe was a very cold and introverted person, and oftentimes wondered if she really cared for Akira at all. Yet she seemed to get so flustered for inflicting just a tiny cut on him.

I think it says something that I have Season 5 of The Wire due back tomorrow and only half-watched, yet I'm reading the widget manga instead.

I started rereading this, and boy, he's gotten a whole lot better at drawing his characters! Yet the backgrounds, they've always been excellently and beautifully rendered and crosshatched. I like them a lot!

(gets to chapter 27)

Dammit... are they really going to throw in the Brother–Sister Incest thing? Is that necessary?

Naw, not really. There's nothing of that sort if I recall correctly.

I didn't see anything weird with the whole drool thing when I first started reading it. I thought it was pretty hot. Still waiting for the next chapter though. Wonder how it would do if it got animated.

HAHA!! Finally, I got it right.

I have to agree; it is hot. Not for the drool thing - that's not sexy - but for showing everything that happens (attraction on both sides, petting, jealousy and making up) in the progression of their relationship. The Futari Ecchi manga does the same thing.

Plus,I have a thing for Strange Girls.smile

ALIEN SPACE CLONE!

Wait, no, I'm still thinking about Illuminatus.

...but that would make sense here too...

Hm.

EDIT AFTER ACTUALLY FINISHING THE CHAPTER

Oh.

Ohhhhh.

Is this going to turn into an Unwanted Harem, except that they all look the same and it doesn't make any sense? Eh... no, there's that "he's so normal!" reaction. So it'll just be weird. Weird-er.

I remember reading the first few chapters of this... I didn't know someone was doing more translations of it.

This seemed to be a much smaller Mind Screw than one of this same guy's previous works. I'll have to dig it up, but it was a complete mindblower, featuring people who could "open up". Like a Jack-in-the-box. They're humans, but their limbs will pop off, and their torsos will open up and have gears and toys running around inside it like some kind of crazy-ass kuckoo clock. And it featured fake pregnant elementary schoolers that somehow made eggs in a phantasmal alternate dimension.

Basically, Mind Screw for Mind Screw's own sake.

I guess I could try to figure out what the title was if someone wanted it...

I love this manga! and that Idol, the only thing giving her away was the size of the breasts.

Yume Tsukai! That's it. Wow, I've actually run past that name on the wiki without recognizing it.

Has to be one of the weirdest things I've ever read.

I believe the guys on the cover of that other link was a reused character in Yume Tsukai, as well, as a sort of "dream hunter" brigade that fought the phantasmagoric entities in the alternate dimension, so that's sort of a prequel.
