^ Then why is that the primary name instead of shell-shocked senior? Or was it in the Repair Shop beforehand?
The term "shell shock" specifically originates from wartime (military) trauma, and "veteran" is closely associated with military status. The very name of the trope implies that it's a war thing.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.The topic has arisen before, but if you feel it's an issue, it should get its own thread. I will cite this paragraph, though:
Sometimes I hate how Google can't search the forums squat.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Um, shouldn't this be taken up on ykttw?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Already did and somebody directed me to Freak Out — that's how this topic wound up in TRS in the first place.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I just figured it was changed because "senior" was even more misleading. "Veteran" can be reasonably used to mean people who've been through non-military-related hardship, but "senior" implied a nonexistent requirement that the character be old (or at least older than everyone else).
Although that trope could probably use some cleanup of its own, and maybe a name change (Shell Shocked Survivor?). I'm not really sure whether it's supposed to be about military veterans exclusively or not.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.As opposed to a "Victory Thud," maybe something like "Victorious Exhaustion," to help distinguish this trope from when it's the enemy who finally thuds to mark your victory?
You are right they are separate tropes....
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.*TRS bump*
The mention of this trope on The Incredibles was misuse and I removed it; when Syndrome's Omnidroid tries to crush Violet, she faints because it was too much for her forcefield to withstand. She's still very much in danger though, so it doesn't qualify for the trope in its current definition, not even as an "aversion".

Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
Shell-Shocked Veteran actually does not require military service; it simply requires that the person's been through traumatic experiences. It has Shell Shocked Senior as an alternate title.
