To be honest the entirety of BFA only works if everyone is a colossal idiot.

At this point having everything be killed by the Void would not be much of a pity.

Blizzard had their big 8.2 reveal today. Loads of new information floating around from both the stream and some of the WoW streamers/youtubers who got invited to Blizzard HQ to preview the patch earlier in the week, some we've heard, some we haven't.

It's far too much for me to meaningfully summarize here, but this patch definitely has a massive scope. Easily the largest mid-expansion patch, and likely edging out any end expansion patches as well. Even Shadows of Argus doesn't feel this big.

It feels like we're getting Argus and Timeless Isle all in one go, although the Argus comparison isn't perfect since this is not the final raid content of the expansion. Maybe more like Isle of Thunder and Timeless Isle.

Man, it's been like two weeks since my sub ended and I haven't cared enough to drop in. Especially since I anticipate a response of "Good for you, fuck off".

Done with this game and don't anticipate ever coming back.

I never expected to be in this position, always figured I'd continue to care about Warcraft and keep checking in on the game. Maybe stop buying expansions at launch, come in during later patches, whatever, but I'd always care about the story.

No, I don't give a shit anymore. Everything about this expansion is just goddamn terrible, especially the story. Been a Warcraft and Blizzard fan for over twenty years and I want nothing to do with either of them ever again.

The new Hearth of Azeroth system looks okay so far, I will have to see how the class-specific traits will be before I can decide on how much I like them.

The generic Healer Powers look super strong at the moment and are all very diverse multilayered effects with different niches.

The Tank powers are so-so with most just being existing tank traits or trinkets Turned Up To Eleven.

The DD Powers are everything I feared these powers to be when I heard "generic strong on use effects" just different flavors of "push this for instant damage + stats", hope the class specific ones can turn this around.

[up][up] I'm not going to tell you to "fuck off", but I remain mystified by this attitude. To me, the story of BfA is fantastic and exciting, and I can't wait to see where it's going. But we've had this rodeo before in this topic, so there's no need to go there again if you don't want to.

Something that's starting to become noticeable for me. Mechagon, from what we've currently seen, just feels random. Not in a bad way, I'm all for a Gnome adventure and maybe a lighthearted side adventure is just what the expansion needs given how heavy the expansion is overall.

And this is not completely unprecedented. It's not unheard of for big patches to have side stories. The Timeless Isle for example in MoP only had the vaguest connections with the Siege of Orgrimmar.

But what makes this one different is how huge it is. It's a zone the size of the Timeless Isle, plus an 8-boss dungeon. All with completely new art assetsnote . That's a huge amount of development resources for a side adventure.

Which tells me one of two things:

1. It's far more connected to the metastory then it currently appears. Going beyond finding a fix for Gelbin's current situation.

2. It's not connected to the current metastory, it's meant to lay the groundwork for something coming in the next expansion. Possibly a Tinker class.

[up] Those are both interesting and valid ideas. I actually didn't realize that Mechagon was linked to saving Gelbin, but it makes sense. Also, there have been a ton of hints that some sort of Tinker class is on the horizon, so this would not surprise me at all.

I've got story blue balls and every time a new tidbit like this emerges, I'm both excited and nervous about spoilers.

[up] Technically to my knowledge it's not actually confirmed that we'll find the fix for Gelbin's situation in Mechagon. But given that he is frozen by technology no one really understands and we just happen to be traveling to a lost city of Gnomes in the patch after it happens...it's not exactly much of a jump.

As for a Tinker Class, there is a lot of reason to think they might be seeding in the class in advance. With other playable classes, they've been heavily connected to the theme of the expansion (WotLK gave us Death Knights, MoP gave us Monks, and Legion gave us Demon Hunters. A Tinker class however would likely be extremely dissonant with the theme of any potential expansion, so it might be best to lay the groundwork in advance.

We finally get to fight Ashvane?!

That's it! Everything that went wrong with this expansion is instantly forgiven purely because of this catharsis!

[up] Yes. I am curious to see how this story plays out because she was technically working with Sylvanas when her story left off. Though it would certainly be wrong to suggest that she is in any way loyal to Sylvanas.

My best guess is that Ashvane had some light dealings with Azshara (enough to get a loaner Kraken), and Sylvanas wanted to know everything Ashvane found oht about Azshara.

The crackpot version of this theory is that Sylvanas needed Ashvane specifically to broker a deal with Azshara, part of which entailed Azshara "taking care" of anyone in the Horde's leadership that is a threat to Sylvanas.

[up] The Alliance War Campaign has you find an encrypted letter from Ashvane that mentions meeting a "patron" with the implication it might not have gone well.

Mister Francis,

As you no doubt have heard, I am no longer incarcerated in Tol Dagor. The circumstances were, shall we say, interesting.

Gather those who remain loyal and wait at the location we discussed before. I will return shortly, but first I have a meeting with an important patron.

We're not done yet.

- Lady Ashvane

<The letter is dated several weeks in the past.>

Wyrmbane suggests this weeks old letter being the last known contact with Ashvane might mean things didn't go as planned.

I assume that patron is Sylvanas, as the Horde War Campaign has you break her out of Tol Dagor. Now, there are some hints that the Ashvane Trading Company may have found an even older and more powerful "patron", but I don't recall any outright confirmation of this yet.

Regarding the talk about Ashvane, spoilers ahoy; Ashvane will supposedly be fought as a Sea Giant of some kind, mutated by Aszhara, but they noted her "True form" was a surprise. Though given her overall character design and shape, the odds of it just being a lawyer friendly version of Ursula is pretty much 99%.

Finally got my Highmountain Shaman up to level 110, making him the 3rd Allied Race character I've earned heritage armor on. Not sure if I'll do the push to get him to level 120 just yet, but I did fully prep him for Zandalar (ie cleaned up his inventory, got some ilevel 225 crafted gear for when he dings 111, and sent him 1.5k worth of war resources, etc.).

This character is particularly special to me because he shares a name with my first ever Horde character, a Tauren Druid, which I left behind when I stopped sharing an account with my brother. But he doesn't play WoW anymore and it turns out inactive characters stop reserving their names after a certain amount of time. And when I was thinking of a name for a Highmountain Tauren, I decided to up and steal the character name back, and I do not regret this action whatsoever.

Datamining for 8.2 has begun, and with it, spoilers!

For one, Thrall returns and works with Saurfang and Jaina to free Baine. Baine is also involved in the tauren heritage armor from the sounds of things.

[up]After reading up on the datamined content and noting a certain someone getting a new model despite already having a perfectly serviceable one I am revising my odds of Sylvanas being unseated in 8.2 to 80%. I'll give her a dice throw's chance of making it to the end of the patch while still being Warchief on principle, but not much more than that.

And for the record, I don't think this will be even close to the end of her story, but I feel we are reaching a point where things can only barrel forwardto a conclusion.

Speaking of the Horde, so what was the deal with that joke that Thrall was going to die in Legion and his ghost was complaining about the players adorning the Doomhammer with stat-enhancing gemstones to the point that it looked tasteless?

I like to keep my audience riveted.
Falrinn Since: Dec, 2014

[up] Never heard of that one.

My hope is that when Thrall reappears, he has the Doomhammer without any explanation stated as to how he reacquired it. And if you ask him about it, he offers some vague platitudes about how it was time for him to take up the Doomhammer once again. But if you are a Shaman, you can press further and he eventually confesses to having flat out stole it and he's not giving it back.
