Necrons still have souls, no? They're just old and not-tasty.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntThe Imperial Guard Needs More Love.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeWhy? Everybody loves the Guard.
If they weren't so damn expensive that is.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntAnd only if they didn't suck earlier on.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeAnother thing that surprised me is the "destroy all enemy buildings with a few units" mission (it unlocks the ability to have pre-built buildings like plasma generators when you attack): I failed utterly against the Orks, then the Necrons took the area, and it was much easier against the Necrons!
I guess it's because they come in lower numbers than the Orks, and are slower...
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."That mission is harder vs the Tau, as the Orks. For me.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeThe problem with the IG is that public perception holds to this: why do you need flak-jacketed flashlight-shiners when you can have power armour clad spess mehreens that shoot acid from their blood? Rule of Cool prevails for most people.
Shame, since I like the IG.
Well, I hate to break it to you, but there is no "big lie", there is no "system". The universe is indifferent. And in Soulstorm you can kill Baldeale with a lot of flashlights.
And it was one of the IG's Crowning Moments of Awesome. Shame Soulstorm sucked.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeIt's not the flashlights that are important, it's the tanks.
Also, nobody ever talks about the plasguns, the very thing that allow guards to do any damage to anything else than light infantry in Dawn Of War. Or the grenade launchers. Or the hellguns of elite troops. Or...
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Ogryns?
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeThe good literature surrounding the IG?
Well, I hate to break it to you, but there is no "big lie", there is no "system". The universe is indifferent.I'm currently playing the DOW 2 campaign, in preparation for the chaos update. Space Marines are cool and all, but to make up for the fact that there won't be a Chaos campaign I'm going to make everyone as evil as possible.
The mayo-lution will not be televised.Well the IG did recently get a new codex and a boatload of new units and models to accompany it, so its not like their being pushed aside like the Dark Eldar have. Isn't their codex now older than 2 editions of the core game rules at this point? But anyway, yeah its not surprising many people eschew the Guard in favor of the other armies running on sheer weaponized Rule of Cool. For me the charm is having a comparably standard human army mostly grounded in reality (albeit with the help of hobbits and ogres) fighting off aliens, daemons and space-elves through sheer strength of will and conviction. Well, that and their fear-inspiring commissariat.
'I'll show him a martyr! I'm going to do die SO HARD'IG have the biggest balls in the series.
I mean they fight daemons and Super Soldiers with only flashlights.
And tanks.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeTried Soulstorm a bit (just did the tutorial with the Sisters of Battle). Well, they say the first impression is very important, but...
What happened to my beautiful intros?
I mean, it's like they want to tell us front that the game is unfinished, with their intro made with the game engine...
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."The game was effectively half-finished. That's because it was made by another outfit.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeHey, I just remarked something about Indrick Boreale's memetic lines: I don't have an English version of DoW (nor have I started Soulstorm yet, as I've still got three Dark Crusade campaigns to do), but from what I read here and on 1d4chan, well...
His "speech impediment", as written, is starting to look a lot like... a French accent. Really.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."It sounds more like someone left his tongue hanging out, IMO.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeWell, since I'm only working with transcripts here, it's hard to tell.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."There's a simple reason why IG are cool: Badass Normal. Oh, and the tanks.
Any tips on the no-home-base mission on Dark Crusade? Keep failing utterly.
Same here. I only won IG vs. Necrons (they conquered it), and Chaos vs. Orks; skipped it in my Ork and Eldar playthroughs.
I guess my best advice is "kill the Necrons last (especially since their stronghold is easy compared to others), and hope they conquer this mission for you". But lately, it failed.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."OK, now I'm officially clueless about correct English pronunciation.
I just saw the Soulstorm Space Marine Stronghold intro with Indrick Boreale's speech, and while I detected the "Emprah" problem just fine, I couldn't see what was wrong in his pronounciation of "space marines", nor anything that would justify spelling it "spess mahreens"...
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."For the mission without the home base, I'd recommend just slowly advancing your troops. Get all your folks dug in to provide enfillades of fire from one big front and stand ground on, then lure them into the killzone. Do this until you get where you need to go.
Doing this as IG was easy heh, Heavy Weapons Teams are awesome. Shit, IG are just plain awesome.
^^ It's an accents joke.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remake
Currently in an IG campaign in Dark Crusade, I'm quite amused by the "two actions per turn" mission: Not only does the whole "collect blood for a khornate demon" thing feel odd for an Imperial Guard player, but my enemies were Necrons!
Also, finally got rid of those damn killbots. IG inter-building tunnels rock.
