I mean, are we talking about general usefulness or just fighting ability?
I know it's an action series, so fighting ability is favored above all else, but I think people tend to forget certain characters aren't frontline fighters.
Nami and Robin aren't frontline fighters and while the nature of the series generally means they have less focus, it doesn't necessarily make them useless either.
Robin's moves are more utility based than straight up raw power like the monster trio. It's not really fair to compare them when their roles are completely different.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I think One Piece is one of the few series where Utility based abilities are as useful as they should be.
One Strip! One Strip!an interesting concept I heard was Robin learning Rokushiki plus Haki, but she'd probably not be a big fan.
Secret SignatureThere was a poster here who actually came up with that idea.
Had links to an article he wrote about it and everything... at least I think he did.
One Strip! One Strip!Yea, I think people focus way too much on the character's lack combat prowess, which isn't anything new for a Shonen series admittedly, since being able to level buildings will always be a valuable ability in these settings.
But it's not like the non-Monster trio crew members can't pull their weight.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Just to make the point, how far do you think the Straw Hats would have gotten without Nami?

Lost and sunk in a tidal wave or storm.
Theyβd have lasted five seconds tops.
One Strip! One Strip!Like, this isn't Dragon Ball where if you can't change your hair color to seven shades from the rainbow, you're useless. (Unless your name is Bulma)

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. And even Bulma has her limits on how long she can defy the lack of uselessness.
One Strip! One Strip!So...unfortunately, she gets sidelined.
Still mad about how Diamante had the perfect Devil Fruit to give Robin a proper fight and how she ended up sidelined against him.

It's easy to forget that even the weaker Straw Hats are leagues above average. Robin was throwing around those supposedly elite ninjas like rag dolls.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."I agree with the sentiment that "Robin with Haji" is an overrated hypothetical.
Cause pre-timeskip no-one in the crew had armament or observation and they fought plenty of haki-less enemies without her standing out much. If she had Halo she'd probably just stay in relatively the same position she was pre-timeskip.
Well, I don't think it would make her unstoppable....wait, I think I did say that.
But that was hyperbole.
I just think that, properly applied alongside her powers would make Robin more dangerous than she already is without it.
But considering direct combat isn't really her style, I do agree that she probably wouldn't do that much even with it.
One Strip! One Strip!Edit: oops, wrong thread. Sorry.

....what...does that have to do with One Piece?
Ah. No problem then.

One Strip! One Strip! My bad, got my tabs mixed up.
Is there an op chapter this week or not? I haven't been keeping track but I think this is the fourth week and, thus, break week.
Edited by sgamer82 on Aug 21st 2019 at 8:07:46 AM
As far as we know, there isnt a break.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Chapter's out.
Okay so there may be a showed that can harm Kaido which has apparently given him his one & only scar.
Though damn Zorro better not give away Shushi. That sword deserved better than being a fucking antique to be gawked at.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."As opposed to what, being drenched in the blood of its enemies? I donβt think swords should be used for the sake of using them.
Oh God! Natural light!Huh, so Gyukimaru is a fox, and used the same alias Kawamatsu did when the kappa was confronting grave robbers.
swords are kind of meant to be used. And Zoro clearly has only ever used his in either self defense or to protect someone else, never for personal gain.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Was it ever explained why Shusui is such a national treasure to Wano above other swords? And if Enma is somehow superior to Shusui, why is it preferable that Shusui remain in Wano but it's ok gifting Enma to Zoro?
Edited by GoldenKaos on Aug 23rd 2019 at 1:27:57 PM
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Its cause Shusui was the personal sword of the samurai Ryuma who is both a legendary figure & national hero to Wano going back centuries.
Its the sword of a long dead hero.
Plus taking the sword to Raftel, the end of the world to find the greatest treasure of all is a Hell of a way to honor.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
I mean, no? Haki would definitely be great, but it wouldn't really overcome the fundamental issues of whether she's useful or not.
