I'm starting to wonder why anyone would want a smile, it seems to come with a lot of drawbacks.

[up]They make one more powerful like other Zoan fruits.

I am assuming the Flying 6 are on the level of guys like Oven and Perospero. Page One was able to fight with Sanji though not able to capture him.

There might also be All Stars outside of the Calamities.

Yeah, but they seem to have far more drawbacks than regular devil fruits.

[up][up] Seems about right. Oven and Daifuku were implied to be the "next strongest" after the Sweet 3, and both clashed roughly evenly, though inconclusively, with Sanji.

[up][up] Because they are essentially one big gambit. Eating a smile gives you one random possibly uncontrolled mutation that appears to be permanent.

Look at hippo guy, he seriously got screwed over with his fruit.

Sure some like Speed got out just fine but a lot really got jack shit.

Look a Lion crotch man.

Keeps getting dick punched by his own crotch lion...and that's just self defeating.

Yeah, Smile is a pretty huge gamble I'd say.

But that lion could also breath fire so it's impossible to say if it's good or bad.

The SMIL Es probably do provide a power boost, but at this point I honestly have to wonder if all the defects are worth it.

Seeing all of these guys makes Kaido wanting an army of them much less understandable.

Then again Kaido doesn't seem to be that big of a thinker.

Kaidou probably thinks the mutants are hilarious.

Imagine him being drunk and pondering on whether to give Holdem the real lion zoan, or the lion smile that'll make one grow out of his gut and often punch him in the balls.

Speaking of army formation, I wonder how Shanks and Blackbeard operate in this regard. I mean, the Red-Haired Pirates probably act like a bigger Straw-Hat (mostly one single crew with a few loosely associated crews here and there), but I don't remember if was ever mentioned how Blackbeard operates.

... And that's called jazz!

I think it was recently confirmed Shanks does have more than one ship, but I might've dreamed that.

[up][up] Blackbeard styles himself as an admiral. His Ten Titanic Captains get their own ships. Burgess is captain of the 1st ship, etc.

He also also has ally/subordinate crews like Pinkbeard, but he doesn't really care about what happens to them. He's a party animal and apparently takes all comers, as shown by accepting a former Marine Admiral like Kuzan and trying to recruit a rampaging Moria.

As for how they operate beyond that, we know they're notorious ability hunters. Absalom is probably just the latest among many DF users they've killed so their fruits would reincarnate and be redistributed within the crew. If Moria didn't accept then he's probably dead and Doc Q has the Shadow Shadow Fruit now or something.

I could see him so luring in recruits to take their devil fruit that would be a terrifying aspect, if that was confirmed.

[up] Why go through the extra work of training a recruit with a devil fruit power to the level of the rest of your top men when you can cut out the middle man and kill them for their fruit and give it to one of your guys? That sounds like a very Blackbeard thing to do.

I was hoping Moriah would become an ally against Kaido somehow, but that doesn't seem likely now that he's almost certainly Teach's prisoner at best.

Though he could have sent his shadow clone, which he can switch places with at any time, to parley with Teach now that I think about it...

We still wait to see the last Blackbeard Commander. Especially since Kuzan's data card bio calls him just an ally ruling him out.

[up][up]It never could have been him anyway. Kuzan was only confirmed to have aligned with Blackbeard after Dressrosa, the same arc that said he had 10 Captains in the first place.

Anyone get the impression that the yakuza boss, Kyoshiro, is probably quite a bit stronger than the Shogun? Just the way they interact makes me think Kyoshiro has some leverage over him, and we know he's in contact with the Calamities. He's also the character that's most setting off my Zoro Opponent Radar at the moment.

[up]I want to see both Kyoshiro and Orochi in action more before I make that guess, because I can see things go either way at this point.

If they a water manipulating Devil Fruit, how do you think it'd be used while not being a complete Story-Breaker Power?

Also this week's episode was delayed for some reason, so we have to see the conclusion next week.

[up][up]Make it a maguffin...or rather, the mcguffin? The Infinity +1 Element status granted to water by how D Fs work would make it one of the most dangerous objects in One Piece. Even without the DF related weakness, hydrokinesis is the power to create floods, freeze people and as one other story showed, control people's bodies. As such, having the One Piece be that kind of fruit would make sense.
