Firebending is now real, because someone invented punch-activated flamethrowers.
..that is the greatest sentence I have ever typed. I may give up writing forever, because I can never hope to type something that awesome ever again.
...I mean, granted, it's over a year old now, but just in case it hasn't been posted here yet, here it is:
Sounds like easy way to burn yourself
It is only a matter of time before the military gets a hold of this technology and uses it as close combat flamethrower ninjas.
Optimism is a duty.If they want to get into show business as stuntmen I guess that is the safer(?) option
I'm sure performers who use fire would love this stuff. Just look how happy that martial artist is.
Optimism is a duty.Ye, performers are crazy brave folk
Indeed. It is awesome yet it isn't practical...........still awesome.
"Analay, an original fan character from a 2006 non canon comic. Do not steal!"For those who are reading them, how are the comics?
I haven't read the latest story in the series, but I really enjoy the interquel comics. The library editions are great, with lots of notes on the comics AND the show.
Optimism is a duty. They're decent, like a good episode of the show. But they're not good enough to justify how long they take to come out.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.I simply wait for the trade to come out and read the whole story in one go. But yeah, they do take their time.
Optimism is a duty. The fact that it's on Netflix makes me think they might avoid the race controversy. I wonder if they'll have the budget for this though.
New article where they explicitly say that it will have "a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast". So, I guess that answers that question.
I wonder what exactly that entails. Do they just mean everyone is East Asian or will they cast South Asians and Native Americans as well?
Well, the Water Tribe are basically Inuit, so I'd imagine they'd have to have Native American actors.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.I'm curious how far they'll go for accuracy. A wholly accurate Avatar would not have any white, black, or latinx actors whatsoever. The Earth Kingdom is Chinese, the Fire Empire is Japanese, the Air Nomads are Tibetan, and the Water Tribe is Native American.
The Earth Kingdom isn't just China. It seems to be fairly multiethnic. All the groups we see are still Asian though.
Some parts of the Earth Kingdom are different parts of Asia but in pretty small doses such as Kyoshi being Japanese, Song wearing a Korean hanbok and Guru Pathik being Indian. The bulk of the important things in the Earth Kingdom like Ba Sing Sei and Toph are very Chinese.
Fire Nation is also more Chinese then Japanese, with some Thai influences on its architecture. The most Japanese part is the top knots and the honor thing rather then visual presentation. The artbook even points out the Fire Nation originally had a more Japanese design but that was almost entirely in pre-production and the pilot episode.
Northern Water Tribe also had very Chinese architecture, only made of ice. But they also had Venice inspired street canals too.

I wonder how the Spirit World will work in this. Will they use CGI, practical effects, or will they just humanize the spirits?
It's been 3000 years…The Spirit World's involvement in Avatar was fairly limited, Hei-Bai, Wa Shi Tong, Tui and La and Ko where about it and I'm pretty sure they can cut Hei-Bai and while Ko is memorable you can pretty much just give his role to Roku which leaves you with Wa Shi Tong, Tui and La.
Did anyone here watch these videos in defense of Korra?:
Korra is not a perfect show but it is actually better than most people give it credit for.
"Analay, an original fan character from a 2006 non canon comic. Do not steal!"I'm pretty much late to the show (no pun intended), but I'll just say that Katara, Suki and Zuko were criminally underused in The Legend of Korra.
And it's a travesty that Mai and Ty Lee never show up at all.
Someone made a hypothetical roster for an Avatar fighting game, which can be found at the bottom of page 2912. Not so much a fangame, since there are no plans to actually make it, but Arcsys has apparently said that they'd really love to make an Avatar fighting game, describing such an opportunity as a "pie in the sky" scenerio.
