Persona series

Well the original version of Persona, DID have a horror feel to it, but it was neutered when the remake, aka the version with an actually worthwhile translation removed all the horrifying music in favor of Discount Pop.

I think part of the reason Persona 4's prologue is so massive is because the way the story's constructed it needs a lot of set-up.

Persona 3: Aigis the First Mission will get a re-release on Switch and Steam as part of G-Mode+ Archives releases.

G-Mode continues to practice the art of Necromancy.

It's like how the first act of an Agatha Christie book has the victim still alive and interacting with people while giving you the sense of dread that someone is doomed. At least P4 stops holding your hand earlier than P5.

The odd Persona spinoff I wanna see get rereleased is that Chie Flash game. More for the kick of it.

I was just thinking yesterday about all of the lost Persona 3 phone games, like Persona 3 Em, and how we'll never be able to play them. And then this happens.

• It always bothered me that Eikichi says he and Hiroki weren't that different, but this time around I found a later Yukino dialogue where she says that he's wrong and a better person than he thinks he is, which was pretty cool.

• I didn't know that Puck reflects wind in this game. It was a consequential lesson to learn.

• The "I'll never financially recover from this" meme is me and the sweepstakes. I picked "hard to win, but the prizes are good" as the rumor, and it's paid off (Spirit Soul, 4-D Eraser, gun), but man.

• Yukino being able to equip Maia is cute. That is all.

@asterism, that's true, but there is some "dead air" involved. It's not as bad as Morgana, but there were a few times I was given control of Yu just to make him go to bed manually or gameplay was sacrificed for weird reasons (like watching the MC for a few seconds being the only thing I could do on a night). It reminded me of Hiimdaisy's snark about needing to see Kanji on the MC twice; "You wanted to say that, but you didn't have enough Common Sense."

The fact they're re-releasing an old (and presumably forgotten) mobile game starring Aigis seems to indicate Atlus believes in the power of Aigis

Something that just occurred to me: Since Shadows and Personas are, essentially, the same thing in different states, does that make berserk or uncontrollable Personas (like the ones used by Strega when not taking the supressors in P3 and Cendrillon for a hot minute in P5 a case of them devolving or degrading back into Shadows?

What could a Shadow Sumire even be like and has this question been asked before here?

A Shadow is the part of yourself you reject and pretend doesn't exist. So it'd just look like normal Sumire

Yeah people seem to always think Shadows are malevolent, no thanks to P4 as welll, when the case is much more complicated.

Anything that is repressed, be it something positive or negative, becomes the shadow.

It's an understandable belief given that usually it would be something negative or toxic someone would repress.

Shadow Futaba is explicitly benevolent.

If Futaba actually denied her shadow's existence and actually went 'You are not me!', Shadow Futaba would go evil really fast.

Yeah, but her first priority was guiding Futaba out of her funk. It's not her fault that getting rejected would cause her to go berserk. It's just something shadows do, and they are capable of being pacified.

I read a fic that proposed the idea that if Sumire went into the TV world instead of Maruki's Proto Palace, they'd speedrun through her issues and get her true Persona earlier than in canon.

She'd need a lot of help to not freak out and end up hanging from the power lines or some antenna.

Fair, which is why the fic had her going in with the Investigation Team. She did freak out and left the TV but then came back to confront her Shadow head-on.

Note: She would never be on power lines, the bodies were literally placed there by Adachi. He admits it to Dojima.

No, that's not it at all. Adachi didn't put the bodies there, in fact, it's why he throws up upon seeing Ms. Yamano's body: he thought it would never be discovered. Morooka's body was the only one deliberately strung up because he was killed in real life by a copycat who didn't know about the TV world.

Yeah. He very explicitly thought they weren't coming back and was more surprised than anyone to see them strung up.

Of course, once he learned that there was no physical evidence of what he'd done on Yamano's body, and that he'd essentially gotten away with Murder, he clearly relaxed again since he immediately tossed Saki into the TV as well.
