Ooh, goody. Even if the equivalent sections were somewhat a pain in Scrap Brain Zone and Wing Fortress Zone, I enjoyed them and I'm glad to see that mechanic here.

And it appears Nintendo Power already leaked the price, which is 1500 Wii Points, or 15 US dollars. Which is a little expensive for my liking, but I'll probably buy it anyway.

You sure about that? I was thinking FIVE-HUNDRED-NINETY-NINE US DOLLARS.

So it's not quite as good as the Genesis games, huh? Kinda disappointing, but I still expect it to be a decent game.

"Not as good as the Genesis games, but still highly recommended and worthy of the number at the end of the title" is still very high praise, especially for the ailing Sonic series. I'm highly encouraged by that recommendation.

...It occurs to me that I had planned to get it on Wii Ware, but my Wii can't get online at my school. Curses. It's going to be a simultaneous release across all three online platforms, right?

This game is supposed to be three episodes, right? Why should pay $45 for a complete Platform Game when I can't even sell it back if I don't like it?

And don't tell me they can't sell it on disk, when New Super Mario Bros Wii exists and Donkey Kong Country Returns and Kirbys Epic Yarn will exist.

Same reason people pay $37 for Final Fantasy IV The After Years, I guess. At least Sonic 4 will have 12 acts for the first episode, but whether that's worth it depends on how long the levels are.

After Years was before selling a 2D game on a console was viable, and even then, it still uses SNES graphics and is from Square-Enix, a company known for price hiking ports of their games.

The reason for 2D graphics there is because the Wii Ware version of After years is a port. A port of a cell phone game.

Hmm... four acts... but with three zones each in addition to miniboss stages that's around as much as Sonic 2. I don't see what the price complaints are about.

Keep in mind that "not quite as good as the Genesis games" is still pretty damn good.

Eh, I never held the Genesis titles to such a high pedestal in the first place, so that statement pretty much makes it a must-buy to me.

My favorite Sonic game has always been Sonic CD. Sonic 2 is "not quite as good" as Sonic CD. Sonic 3 is (in my opinion) "not quite as good" as Sonic 2. Sonic Adventure is "not quite as good" as Sonic 3. Sonic Adventure 2 is "not quite as good" as Sonic Adventure.

All of these are extremely good games, though, to the point where "not quite as good" means almost nothing. So Yeah, I'm not worried.

It seems like most people confuse "not quite as good" with "sucks ass compared to" way too often.

Also, 15 dollars pricey? It sounds it has more content than Sonic 2, and back in the day that costed more than 15$! Actually I'm guessing it's longer than Sonic3&Knuckles. Cos there'd not be too much of a reason for Sega to leave it too short.

Hell, downloadable games on consoles and computers are dirt cheap if they are below the 25$ mark. Or 25€ for me.

I wonder how reminescent will it be to the genesis games though. I'm thinking it will have a Sonic 3 style save system. Cos I don't think it will be short enough to play through in under 3 hours.

I played Sonic CD a while back.

Eh. The level designs were awful, IMO.

Eh, the level designs felt more like something that I'd expect more from a Metroidvania-type game than a Sonic game.
