New Neptunia game just got revealed, it's called "Hyperdimension Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters" and focus on the Candidates
In battle, three party members fight in real-time, and the characters you are not controlling act on their own. You can also switch between characters. You can unleash combo skills, which can be activated at the press of a button and link with other characters; and tactical skills, which are unique actions that consume a dedicated gauge.
...welp, d. Anyway, from the story description ("the little sisters awaken after being put to sleep for two years by someone, to find that people now have smartphones called “MagiPhones” that have taken over the market. Planeptune has fallen to the “Buzzoer Phenomenon") I'm guessing it will parody mobile gaming?

"Leftover items still have value!"It'll parody mobile gaming while also somehow being a Dynasty Warriors game, calling it now.
So I guess they are doing a game about how traditional handheld gaming is dead, lol.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!I wonder if the Sisters are going to get super modes in this game.
lol still Playstation exclusive? I know they started out on Playstation but Sony has been making it clear they’re not very fond of these games anymore.

I’m just wondering why they aren’t putting these games on Switch. Did the Switch ports of Super Neptunia and Megadimension not do good?
It’s just odd considering that Sony doesn’t really like niche anime games anymore.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Probably just tradition at this point to release first on Sony consoles and then later port to other systems.
Not releasing on Switch at all would be moronic with how much the Switch is absolutely DOMINATING the console market in Japan this generation.
This is a most pleasant surprise, I had already given up on Neptunia getting a proper new game.
Wonder if the Candidates' two-year torpor will be a plot point or just an excuse for their absence.
Wonder if this is also gonna be the Candidates’ equivalent to Super Neptunia in terms of having been in a sleep and waking up with no memory, but instead of contending with villains that want only 2D games, are contending with villains that want to replace the Candidates like how mobile games pretty much killed off traditional handheld gaming?
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Welp they've uploaded a new preview video. Here is the preview video
Looks fun
So, here’s a thought:
Do y’all think that we will see the day where a Neptunia game gets nominated for anything at The Game Awards?
I think no just because the nominees tend to be decided by games journalists and this series struggles to appeal to them.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Normally I'd say "no, even though the games are fun, they aren't good enough for that", but apparently broken disasters like New World are able to earn nominations, so who knows.
And Cyberpunk has two nominations this year.
And I only say no just because this series struggles to appeal to people who aren’t into niche anime-like games. Which a lot of game journalists tend to not be into.

“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”Funny, considering I’m asking if we’ll see the day that one of these games will ever get nominated for an award from The Game Awards.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Doesn't Scarlet Nexus kind of apply? Persona once upon a time was viewed in those lens too. But TWEWY NEO and Bravely Default 2 aren't nominations this year and they're more established. I think it all comes down to sales, visibility, and hype and if Neptunia can somehow get those one day it might get a chance too.
Perhaps.
Though now I’m wondering why this series manages to stay niche, lol.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Because it caters only to its already established audience?
That’s likely it. Idea Factory and Compile Heart are okay with appealing only to people who like niche anime games.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Pretty much. Not everyone is into metafiction (which the premise basically is via allegory) or Moe Anthropomorphism, and I think any feminist elements in the premise (keep in mind that the protagonists are women in political and religious control, with the flavor of economic control mixed in) would get overshadowed by the fact it appeals to otaku and has plenty of fanservice elements with its mostly female cast. The actions of a certain infernal hashtag did not do any favors as their preferred games tend to include fanservicy animesque titles like this.
That said I would find it interesting if they did tell a story influenced by said hashtag where the CP Us must fight angry dudebros, incels and pseudo-nazis trying to take over Gameindustri and relegate them to the kitchen. But I also admit that such a premise would be difficult to work with and easy to fuck up due to such political themes (and would likely be on par with the Conquest ending for how much Cerebus Syndrome would ensue as a result) and would face backlash even if handled properly.

Yep. The Fanservice elements would put off a lot of people who are aren’t into anime.
It’s probably why niche anime titles in general really struggle to become more popular. Games like Persona and Scarlet Nexus are exceptions here and even then I’ve seen Persona get its fair share of complaints.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! That and the hashtag wasn't a thing in Japan IIRC, so they probably aren't aware it ever existed.
They finally gave some new details about that game involving the Candidates, and it appears to be a brand new game, one that might even be in the main timeline. https://www.gematsu.com/2021/11/hyperdimension-neptunia-sisters-vs-sisters-announced-for-ps5-ps4
