grabbed this on rental.

First thing I notice is no tutorial on purist difficulty. Fuck you game. You completely change how the game works and then don't offer a tutorial? That's not difficulty. That's just stupid.

Going to properly start now.

Consensus is that you're meant to use the higher difficulties for replay rather than start there, as the bonuses achieved on lower difficulties are what make the higher difficulties possible.

Which is totally stupid, but there you go.

Ran through it on easy. Thoughts

Good stuff:

Animations are really, really well done. Like just walking around you feel like the biggest badass.

uh...yeah.

The bad stuff: Pretty much everything else. This isn't hitman. Hitman is a puzzle game with murder. This is a stealth action game. Which is fine, but I don't want a worse deus ex, I want hitman.

They're completely different. Blood money/absolution is like night and day. Except the day is a turd and the night is a good game.

Like the most basic things about hitman are missing. Open environments? Maybe three. Creative kills? Telegraphed so hard that there isn't anything creative about them. Disguises? Ha. The disguise system is so useless it's actually more beneficial to not wear them on anything harder then easy difficulty as guards will mark you for an enemy 'cross the room with your back turned. Even if you're wearing a mask and they have no logical reason to know who the hell you are.

I thought a patch was already out, from what I've read anyway.

(I've not played this yet).

I'm playing it right now.

No patches as of yet, your disguises are pretty useless.

Not that patching it would fix it up because the game is very clearly designed around this system and a disguise system more in line with something like Blood Money would just make it ridiculously easy.

A level like Run for Your Life heavily relies on your police disguise being useless except for short bursts.

Got this as a gift and I'm enjoying it so far. Its my first foray into the series (though I'll definitely be looking into the other games when the trilogy comes out) but I haven't felt lost when it comes the plot. Doing my first run on normal and attempting to be stealthy about it but I find that its usually a case of waiting until the target is alone and then using the garrote before stuffing him in a box. Did manage to pull off a few environmental kills while I was taking out Lenny's pals though.

Hitman Absolution is getting a Mac port.

Given that I play Blood Money and Contracts via VMWare, I'm glad I can finally play an installment of the franchise natively. Absolution is a Crysis-caliber beast in graphics though, so I don't know how my Macbook Pro Retina's going to hold up in frame rate.

I personally wouldn't recommend the game even if your hardware can run it. It's pretty crappy and overall plays closer to something like Splinter Cell Conviction, i.e. a cover-based stealth action shooter- and not a great one at that, rather than Blood Money or Contracts. There's barely any assassination missions for one and the few there are left are incredibly simple and far too easy. Plus the supposedly more emphasised story is rubbish.

And given that Hitman 6 has been cancelled it's probably just better to treat the series as having ended with Blood Money.

I think you're being too harsh, honestly. I loved the gameplay and story, myself (like 47's whole deal on Diana, I liked that). I'd recommend owning it.

Also: Hitman 6 hasn't been cancelled as far as I'm aware.

Hitman 6 is still on track, and Io has said that they're gonna make a proper Hitman game, not another disaster like Absolution. Sure, we only have their word to go on, but all we can do is hope at this point.

My bad, I thought there was an article about Hitman 6 being cancelled but going back and rereading the article it was about general layoffs at IO and other projects being cancelled.

I Googled it, and it appears there was a rumour about it being cancelled some time ago, but Square Enix later said it wasn't true. All the current info I could find said it's still being worked on.

Though IO's precise words would be that they recognized Absolution's flaws and would improve on them. They didn't disavow the game entirely.

Good idea(for the consumer). If you don't like the game you don't have to pay as much before dropping it while if you do like it this ensures the content will be more complete for each release. The last few games have only had 1 mission per map while this one will have multiple to encourage the "playground" feeling of each target.

The episodic release worked great for Life Is Strange.

So is no one talking about this game? I have tried it at a friend's house a few times. It's pretty awesome. Definitely one of the best in the series. Unfortunately my PC isn't that good at running it :-(

Decided to give the intro pack a whirl, and man I'm loving the gameplay of this. I'd say gameplay wise probably the best in the series, and I've played em all, even the maligned first one, lol.
