Even Shiny Garchomp.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyAlolamola only dominates low-tier Singles though.
Where there's life, there's hope.Didn't know Alomomola had an Alolan variant...
So one of my favorite Youtubers made a video describing the appeal of Pokemon through the years, and potentially why it tends to garner so much controversy nowadays. It's a good watch and really made me re-contextualize a lot of the Discourse lately in the online fandom. Highly recommend if you got nothing to do for fifteen minutes.
It’s still my favorite game franchise even if no installment is perfect. There’s been a downward trend in the quality of the creatures, looking progressively less sleek and natural, been there have been improvements in character writing and overall story. And the soundtracks are always worth gushing over. Even in the 8 bit days, I loved the gym leader battle theme, National Park, Ice Path...
The core idea is brilliant: collect and battle with creatures that you found during your adventures, stopping evil plots to take over the world, encountering legendary beings and becoming the very best like one ever was. Even us who want to collect as many as possible end up picking our few favorites we end up using, or having stories about our own personal relationships with the game, like me and that shiny Weepinbell I used to finally get that Sleep Powder off on that freaking Raikou.
Just because I stepped away from buying or playing the games doesn’t mean I hate the franchise as a whole. But it still hurts to see something like Eiscue come along and damage what was once a fond part of my childhood. I still buy a few spin-offs, lots of the soundtracks, and follow the progress of the franchise via players on Twitch or You Tube. And I hope they make more movies like Detective Pikachu. Maybe Legends Arceus will reignite that desire to buy newer games. Maybe it won’t. I’ll still have my old roms, and I’ll also still never form a close bond with an Avalugg or Drampa.
Finally posted DB Scarlet Mirror: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13689952930A49781400&page=97#2423... Eiscue "damaged" things for you? Really?

Watch SymphogearEiscue damaged your childhood? And here I thought it was bad competitively.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrIt does look pretty lazy...
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I just looked up Eiscue's design and its a cube on a penguin's body, also it can change faces apparently
Its an interesting design at least
New theme music also a boxHonestly I love it just for the pun
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaEiscue is one of a small group of truly great Gen 8 'mons.
Eiscue is the only Pokemon so bad that every fan redesign looks better and more interesting.
, Fight! Fight! Fight!
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Yea, the idea of Pokemon is a lot better than the reality of Pokemon. Funny how that works.
Eiscue is....honestly so ridiculous that I have to commend them for making something so audacious.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.It is fucking amazing.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Eiscue is divisive, but it ain't a childhood ruiner. Friggin' overactors.
Gen 8 Pokemon have had a dip in quality, they're just not as inventive and charming as 'mons from previous Generations. It's not just reverse recency bias, Gen 7 was "oops, all bangers". Eiscue is the exception, a penguin that forms a giant ice cube around its head as a helmet is awesome, and it's easily in the top 10 best Galar 'mons.

huh? eiscue's design is fine. it isnt any more "lazy" than ekans or voltorb or grimer.
it isnt exactly my favorite design in the world but it's not so offensively bad it would ruin your childhood
and gen 8 had a lot of really good designs, i dont think there were any i outright disliked besides maybe Obstagoon.
even still, acting like there was suddenly a dip in objective quality seems pretty ridiculous when its more likely that it just has less designs you like, which is fine

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeIsn't it a tad arrogant to treat your opinion on designs as factual?
Honestly, I guess the issue with Pokemon is more of an issue with a few people being very vocal about trivial things.

Hey gen 7 had some great ones. Mimkyu , Goliospod and Vikavolt in particular are fantastic.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Well that's what happens when you have people with varying levels of taste over a 25 year period :V
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Of course! However, one thing is being tolerant of differing tastes, and another is being cocksure on one's and dimissive on that of others. And, well, enough time and enough people makes the ugliness apparent.
If the human race was more tolerant of each other's differences, we wouldn't be at war :V
To move away from that uncomfortable topic; Gen 8 has mostly forgettable designs to me, with some standouts here and there.
Gen 6 and 7 introduced fewer Pokemon, but that ironically helped them stand out more.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
It's always the big pink pokemon that turn out to dominate the competition.....
