Canada is way too big to be a region, it would be a small section of Canada, at most. One thing to keep in mind is that all previous regions have been adjacent to the ocean, so it follows that all speculative regions should be, too. A fully land-locked region seems unlikely, given past history.

I'd like a region based on England, Italy, or Spain.

I wouldn't mind a section of Canada as a Pokemon region, but it definitely wouldn't be the whole country. Even just a single province of Canada would already be massively larger than any other region has ever been.

The thing with no regions being landlocked is probably a coincidence. The ocean doesn't add much to the experience

Gives a good excuse for water types.

Although Great Lakes. Just saying...

There's already too many water types! And rivers and lakes are things in the games

Not gonna put too much stock on some Pokemon region being landlocked. For the record, Unova's not that accurate. Apparently east of Queens County is all ocean, yup, no land at all.note

Point is, they could still add whatever terrain they want to their region, that's the beauty of being based off a real location, adding stuff for creativity's sake.

Goddammit, Schezo...

I kinda wish they redo some of the early typing (besides Magnemite line). Like Jiggs should be Fairy/Flying if they want to be consistent with the other balloon pokemon.

Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos combined only had like three or four actual water routes, and Unova's was completely superfluous. What they did have were a fair number of lakes and rivers. I could definitely see them making a landlocked region, so long as there's some amount of freshwater available to put Water-types in.

They'd probably have to hold back on making any Water-types based on saltwater species, but it's also not the end of the world if they, say, put wild Wailmer in the local pond. Or aquarium.

^^I always hated psyduck/golduck never becoming part psychic. A little late now since there's already 3 water/psychic lines but still.

Mawile honestly feels like it was supposed to be a dark type originally but late in development got made into steel. Everything about it points more to dark type, from its description to its moveset. Not complaining since steel/fairy is a nice typing but it could work as a dark/fairy too.

I want at least half of Italy.

Also, there's no way they'd turn The Whole Of Australia into a region. Australia as a country is around the size of Continental US (not including Hawaii or Alaska of course). It's a continent. They'd probably do a section of Australia, but not the whole thing.

If they did adapt Australia. Likely region is either a fused New South Wales (probably just Central New South Wales and lower. No further than Newcastle), Victoria (and ACT) region with potentially Tasmania as a postgame Battle Island esque location or the Northern Territory with maybe parts of Queensland, Western Australia or Southern Australia.

I'd say from Sidney to Tasmania is a good range for a Region.

It'd be a good area to bring seasons back since the only areas that snow are mountains during Winter

I did say that a Pokemon region could be based on China, but I wonder what part of China would be the main influence of the Pokemon region...

What Sky Battle meta? Sky Battle is gone as of ORAS since fans didn't like it for how restrictive it is. Like, I can't use Heracross for Sky Battle despite beetle can fly, albeit bad at that.

I don't understand how sky battles even ended up in X/Y? Like, "pokemon battle in the sky" does sound kind of neat, but if you think about it for longer than half a second it should become apparent that the game doesn't have any mechanics that allow for it to be at all interesting

Sky battles are to blame for perpetually airbone idle stances for elegible Pokemon. So Tropius is forever flying and all that.

They should never have existed to begin with.

I’m looking forward to how they make use of the unique features of the Switch, and how they handle the first (completely new) main series title on a home console.
